Cleaning a George Foreman

  • Dont ask me how I discovered this.......sheer desperation I think!!

Ok if you take two sheets of kitchen towel and soak them, place them on your George Foreman and close it, switch it on for a few minutes until it just starts to get warm. Switch it off and wipe. Somehow this losens all the bits that are stuck. Please do be careful though cause the kitchen towel gets really warm!
Its hard to wait around for that something you know may never happen, but its harder to give up when you know its everything you ever wanted.........

People tell me Im going the wrong way..............when its simply a way of my own!
  • If they are removeable, soak them in biological washing powder overnight, if not use tye paper towelling methods described above,

rub with plenty of oil, leave for a while, oil again then heat gently - you could heat in the oven rather than putting them back on as they'll be pretty oily. then rub with kitchen roll. this method should ensure you aren't doing any damage to the non-stick coating. good luck

I normally clean my george while its still hot from cooking - and i MEAN hot! it takes seconds. after i remove the meat or whatever to a plate i run the washing up sponge under water then squeeze it over the plates of the george. the water runs into the dish from the bottom plate but the water from the top plate will run onto the worktop. this loosens burnt on food. then i wipe the plates with the sponge. job done!
If I have forgotten to do this and open the george to find crud in there (when my oh has used it) then i just heat it up and do the same as above.
I Never oil the plates - there is no need to. if cooking steak or chops I oil the meat. veg doesnt really need oil. fish - depends on whether the skin is on - if it is I oil the skin as OH likes it crispy.

You might want to take a look at this older thread for more suggestions :) I'll merge this later to keep ideas together.

I use damp kitchen towel or J cloth and slip down the corners with my plastic fish slice.

I am surprised how easily it comes clean!
