As soon as you have finished cooking, turn it off, then wet a tea towel t and then wring it out, fold it and put it on the GF and close it. Then when you have finished your dinner, you can just wipe it clean and everything comes off with ease.0

i either just use kitchen roll while its hot and sometimes use a diluted white vinegar spray, it cuts through the grease nicelyMum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0

I keep a supply of old t shirts etc specifically for cleaning my George Foreman! I clean it with the cloth dry straight away while it is still on - I use enough of the T shirt to make sure I do not burn myself!! I never have a problem - the muck justs glides off while its still hot. I find my 4 year olds T shirts work the best for size! They are usually not fit for the charity shop by the time she has finished with them - perfect for cleaning the GF and then throwing away though!!!I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes0

I find that becasue I use lower fat meat and sausages, that there isn't much fat to help everything else "slide off" IYKWIM. The meat juices seem to caramalise straight away. I often have to take mine over to the sink and I use a non stick scourer and washing up liquid to clean mine.
When it dies, I won't be rushing out to replace it as I have 2 decent grills now (which I much prefer) but if I did, I'd definitely make sure it had removeable plates. Can't see why they weren't done like that to start with!
ps will try leaving the wet cloths on it, while we are eating - that should help. Thanks.0 -
My interior has got scratched abit, due to DS1 cooking bacon in it and then leaving it - so its hard to get off later on! next time i would go with the plates that remove and go in the dishwasher.0

The finish is practically off mine too and i'd love a new one with removable plates. I'm really put off using mine now because of the cleaning but can't justify buying a new one.0

Sorry to go off topic a bit, but can someone enlighten me ? What is the advantage of a George Foreman grill over grilling something on a grill rack where the fat runs off anyway ?

I use kitchen towel and a little bit of olive oil, which bizarrely enough works a treat.
You have to do it when it's hot.
It gets rid of all those annoying black charcoaly bits.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

For me, I like the George Foreman because you can contain the mess, I have always found when grilling something on your oven grill the fat splatters everywhere, and I hate cleaning the oven (so much so i very rarely use it)

I've got a Tefal one. You unplug the electric bits, and put the rest straight into the dishwasher! I bought it in a Robert Dyas sale. It was £39.99 instead of £99.99!I Believe in saving money!!!:T
