Cleaning a George Foreman

Options
Hello all,

This is my first post over here and was hoping someone can help.

We use our george forman quite regularly but it is not becoming quite greasy even after it is cleaned. It's quite horrible on the outside too. Does anyone know what the best thing is to use to get it all nice again?

Thanks

  • I clean mine by getting a couple of sheets of kitchen roll, wet them slightly then put them between the plates for a couple of minutes while it is swtched on then just wipe over with a cloth :)

Thanks for that tip-I'll give it a try. I normally clean it when it's switched off.

Any ideas how to clean the outside-that's really greasy too?
  • Hot soapy water on a dishcloth :)

I always heat mine up then wipe clean with the soft side of a scouring sponge. Rinsing the sponge occasionally in soapy water.

    Hope that helps
  • I agree with the wet bounty, but my finish came off mine and the best investment we made was one with plates that will go in the dishwasher.

The outside I just wipe with a damp cloth that's been wrung out in hot soapy water (HOT!) this seems to keep it clean :) Inside I just wipe it with kitchen roll whilst it's still warm :)

I always clean mine before it cools down or things just weld on making it difficult to clean. I use a damp cloth with the tiniest amount of washing up liquid.

I have a microfible cloth I use specifically for it (as it winds up a bit full of grease and mank, so its not much good for then wiping down your worktops). Just use it damp straight after you're done cooking, just takes about 30 seconds and its all done. Every so often I soak the cloth in a solution of bio washing powder and it gets all the grease out.

To clean the outisde I use the regular cloth as all the grease would mess up the stainless steel outside. So far I haven't had any damage to my grill at all this way (been using it regularly for over a year and a half now)

Thats how I do mine too but turn it off first as its very hot and it sort of steams it clean while you're eating your meal!;) then you just wipe it over with the kitchen roll followed by a cloth and it comes off easily. I got this tip originally from this site!:T

  • I have had mine for a few years and the finish on the plates and the outside is still fine (I have the Big George) - I just fill the sink with hot soapy water and use a microfibre cloth and a sponge - I just do it with the hot soapy water when it is still hot and all the stuff just glides off. I do the outside the same and then dry it with some kitchen towel.
