Put wet paper towel on the plate and close the grill and turn on for a while, that gets most of it off, have to say it was the cleaning that has stopped me using it so much, I see the new ones have removable plates - much better idea!whoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine

I have to agree with most of above, but I recently got the best cloth ever for this job. It was a pack of three like microfibre chequerboard cloths(does that make sense?) from aldi. Any way they're yellow, a nice size, and they really do a brilliant job of cleaning the grill without any damage.
P.S. if you've let the grill go cold before cleaning, just switch it on and let it heat up again to clean it... no problem.
P.P.S. I've chucked a little one in the bin before because I had scraped all the non stick off it.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0 -

these don't work great, I've tried them. They're no problem if the grill isn't too sticky, but no good for cleaning up after sticky sausages or even bacon.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0 -

Well they work for me so not much else I can say on that."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I agree they are a pain to clean - I either take them over next to the sink and use a nonstick pan scrubber and washing up liquid, or (only recently started doing this) leaving a wet dishcloth or couple of pieces of wet kitchen paper between the two plates while it's still warm, then you can easily wipe the rest off.
It's the one piece of kitchen equipment that is going with the ex Mr TM when he eventually eff's off0 -
You can buy a george foreman "cleaning sponge" its fits into the grooves nicely http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0300418345.1192231347@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccfeaddmemmdfiicflgceggdhhmdgmh.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=100699&category_oid=-30601
Happy cleaning!"Do not look back and grieve over the past, for it is gone, and do not be troubled about the future, for it has yet to come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering"0 -
i only have a small one, but i just wipe it clean every time i use it with damp kitchen roll,
works a treat0 -
I just scrape the worst of it off with the scraper. I leave mine to cool. It didn't occur to be to have it warm. Then I damp kitchen roll with the soapy washing up water, lay the towel on the plates and close it, and leave it to soak in while I wash the dishes. I scrape off what's left with the kitchen roll and just wipe it with the washing up sponge or a microfibre cloth. It's never been that hard to clean.0

I think Im with the majority on this, tend to clean whilst still warm, just wipe over with kitchen roll.
If Ive grilled something fatty, hot soapy water helps.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0
