Is it true that Citibank debit card can't be swiped?

I know in Carphone Warehouse, if you're buying a PAYG phone on your card, they swipe your card to see if it's been used at Carphone Warehouse before to 'help prevent fraud' so they say. So if I use my card today in CPW, they won't be able to skim it?

It's still chip&pin for the actual payment.
when I paid for something is woolworths they swiped the card then asked me to put my pin in,
    hope this helps

I have sent an earnings enquiry via Quidco and it has been sent to the merchant.
it would seem to me that quidco are abit of a miss and hit job, as they have messed up on mine loads, cant really be bothered with it now,
sometimes I think I'll go through them and other times I think is it worth the hassel,

Are Citibank still taking on new clients for their current account?

I have made a number of applications lately, and dont want a decline.I really want to switch account from Barclays asap.

Is the general view that Citi are a good bank?

    Thanks

Citi are the only bank to have given me a proper VISA debit card, so in my view they are good. I've only used them for a handful of transactions yet as I still do all my main current account banking with A&L. But not had any problems with Citi.

They are always taking on new customers, but the question is will they accept you. They are a lot tighter when giving people accounts now. Whats your credit like?

Thanks for your reply. My credit is ok'ish. I have done a lot of applications over the last 3 months, so not sure if that will get them worried?
