  • Did anyone ever get their Citibank Visa Card to work on PayPal, mine still doesn't but have kept my old solo joint account open in order to fund my eBay obsession, also PayPal doesn't like the set up bank funding for Citibank?

Not too bothered though, just means I have to budget properly for ebay now!!

  • I'm still not happy - i'm in Hong Kong at the moment, and I can't get any money out of the ATM using my debit card - Citibank say they aren't receiving the request from the ATM - what a load of rubbish!

Did you tell them that you were going away? I know I have told them twice I am going away and they have replied saying they would automatically block my card if I hadn't told them?

  • Excellent, mine has now gone on, it doesn't seem to like it if you do outside of business hours, thats the only thing I can think of that may have been causing the problems, have always tried to add it late at night!

  • Could be, although wouldn't explain the problems I and some other people had last week, though I believe Citi were upgrading their systems, or so I was told on the phone by them and there has been a few hitches along the way, mind you, they're internet banking and promptness of service in many areas is still the best I have encountered so can't hold too much against them!

Fellow MSE members may recall that I had serious problems when using my card. For those who where not aware, my card kept getting declined despite having more than enough funds in the account.

I taken the time to write a letter to Citi bank, sent via recorded delivery and I received a letter back from them yesterday.

basically they said the fault lay with the authorisation department, Then explained when I use my card in any retailer, the retailer chip and pin should dial to have the card authorised, It would appear that the link to citi bank authorisation was suffering faults which resulted in certain customers having problems with there transaction. Bla bla bla letter went on.

They also advised they have re-ordered me a new card in case my card is faulty too.

So least they have taken the time to write back

Don't forget to re-register for Internet Banking once your new card has arrived. You will need to ring them up and ask for a new T-PIN. If you don't you'll find yourself locked out of your account in a few weeks.
