I most admit that I have not had any problem's at all, and I still like citi for this, and many other reasons,
and the fact that there online service is so easy to understand,
I do feel sorry for those people who are having problems, but you do seem to be to quick to jump out of the boat so to speak,
why can you not ring citi and ask to sort it out, instead of saying right thats it had enough I'm off,
it seems to me that some people are to soon to start saying I'm off just because your card wont work,
there must be a logical reason for this,
    be it the shop
    the bank
    or you,
    you should start to think
    what could the reason's be,
    9 times out of 10
    its the shop
they did say everyone had to go chip and pin.
this is maybe something to do with that,
to make these shops go chip and pin
and nothing to do with citi or you,
    had you thought about that,
just a point I wanted to make,
    cw

    I agree...

I have called them and they said that nothing was wrong with my card, ok I might have gone off in one just a little too quick. However if you had over £500 in your account with a further £2k going in within 48hrs and you can't access it without going to the autoteller..... Would you not be a little unhappy.

What is really piXXing me off is the fact that everytime I spend a silly amount like £4.00 I need to take £10 out the bank, so basically I am taking money out the acount I did not have too.

I will send them a secure message now and see what they can suggest,

I have not thought that the card could be faulty

Its not the retailer as I tried it in Tesco, Asda and Argos to which are all different retailer and it was declined.

I will keep you all updated

To Be honest Computerwoman, I think the thing that annoys me most is not the randomness of the declined transactions, But the fact Citibank refuse to accept that it's anything to do with them. The whole issue of not being able to use the card at a non Chip & Pin retailer took a number of phone calls and secure messages before they would admit that it was 'their end' that was declining the transactions.

and as mentioned by marcellep, It's annoying to have to keep taking money out via an ATM to pay for items, leaving you with money in your hand you'd rather have in your account.

I will probably stay with them for the time being, simply because I can't be bothered to go through the hassle of moving all my DD's, SO's and notifying my employer (which is a whole story in itself! LOL). I am using the card less and less though, I prefer to use a prepaid debot card for online transactions after i was a victim to card fraud on my Halifax Debit card, and I 90% of everything else I buy is from Tesco (Collecting Points) so I use my Clubcard Plus Heavily.

Oh and anyone who is thinking about asking for a new card with Citibank, Be warned that once it has arrived and you have activated it, You will need to ring Phone Banking and ask for a new T-PIN as you will be locked out of your Internet Banking...It's all linked to your card I was told.

What is it about citibank, Mesdames computerwoman, Tori Bellatrix, khurammm that brings out the religious fervour in the three of you???

You even have to give approval to each other for postings that defend Citibank.

    nothing,
it just seems to me that afew people who were raving on about citi not so long ago,
are now to keen to turn there back's on them at the first hurdle,
chip and pin was 1 year old in feb (I think it was feb) and it was all over the papers last year when it was introduced that every outlet would have to go chip and pin sooner or later,
    all I am saying is,
it could have nothing to do with citi,
seems abit odd that there cards were working fine until recently,
which makes me think that either its
    shop error,
    human error,
and it is in the T & C's that you can only use the card for chip and pin,
you can ask for a signature card,
just seems people are too quick to condem citi,
sorry if I got on anyones bits

  • Citi internet banking is down at the moment, I rang them to request more prepaid envelopes, they are aware of a server problem affecting some customers, it should be fixed by 12 noon they hope, they have said it isn't affecting everyone though.
