I think it is ridiculous that we can't use these cards abroad. Incredibly disappointed. I travel a lot for work, this is a big issue for me. I sent a secure message about this last week, still not had any answer.

I've also had my account for 3 months, crediting my salary of over £1000 every week, asked for the £500 overdraft and failed the credit check so they declined me!

You can use the card abroad - I did quite frequently in cash machines, shops and restaurants. However, all these places needed your PIN. The shop in Las Palmas airport was swipe and sign.

Does anybody know if they issue chip and signature cards?

    Hi all,

Did someone say that Egg and Citibank are the same company, I have upset Egg in the past, by having a CC and getting into financial difficulty, I defaulted and then came into some money, which I managed to spread among all of my debts and negotiate that they accepted around 60% of the outstanding balance as the full and final payment. Now my credit report shows that I’m clear of debt (bar mortgage). I do know however that at least some if not all the financial institutions I have "settled" with have marked me as a "difficult customer" I cannot easily obtain any sort of products from them at the moment. Hence my question regarding the relationship between Egg and Citibank. I have applied online and had no on screen "bog off you twit" statements I have come accustomed to. Do they reject online or only by mail ?

    Regards

Any thoughts on whether I would be rejected for the above ?

It really is hard to tell. A few months ago they seemed to accept anyone but recently they tightened up their criteria. I would apply anyway and if declined apply again in 3 or 4 months. It was mentioned they loosen their criteria when they are on the cashback sites. They are due back on in a few months.

    Hi all,
have been reading the T & C's on citi and it looks like if you want to use your cards abroad you should open either a dollar account or a euro account or both,
all existing customers can apply for these online,/tbanking, so it would seem to me that you need to ask them for these accounts when going abroad,
also citibank card will NOT work for swipe and signature ONLY chip and pin, you can also ask for a signature card,
    hope this helps anyone,
or just ring them its free,

    also citi did by egg,
but are running it as egg,
    owned by citi groups
so dont know where you'd stand with that,
except to say they have just this year aquired the company, so if you apply now you maybe accepted, as if you wait awhile you probably wont, if you have had any awkward dealings with past egg, hope this helps

Not happy bunny today, my card has been declined 3 times, called Citibank and they have no answer for me what so ever. Tried again online just now and still says BIG FAT NO.

I am wondering if I have made mistake trusting Citibank with my money, I have in excess of £500 in the account........:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:
