Fellow MSE members may recall that I had serious problems when using my card. For those who where not aware, my card kept getting declined despite having more than enough funds in the account.
I taken the time to write a letter to Citi bank, sent via recorded delivery and I received a letter back from them yesterday.
basically they said the fault lay with the authorisation department, Then explained when I use my card in any retailer, the retailer chip and pin should dial to have the card authorised, It would appear that the link to citi bank authorisation was suffering faults which resulted in certain customers having problems with there transaction. Bla bla bla letter went on.
They also advised they have re-ordered me a new card in case my card is faulty too.
So least they have taken the time to write back
Pls be nice to all MSer's
There's no such thing as a stupid question, and even if you disagree courtesy helps.
Tomorrow never come's as today is yesterday and tomorrow is today

Going on holiday to Spain soon and I was wondering if it is worth opening a Euro account? I have already exchanged some Euros to take with me. But I will have funds going into my Citibank a/c whilst I am away which I will want to access.0

I just telephoned Citibank on the day of my departure to inform them and bought things abroad with my debit card and withdrew money from the ATM. All my purchases were in £ and not € so no charges were incurred.0 -

Don't allow the retaler to use “Dynamic Currency Conversion” (where the retailer, and not the card company makes the conversion). That will give you a much worse exchange rate. Always insist on being charged in the original currency of the purchase.
"Dynamic Currency Conversion" is very popular in Spain. You have to watch out like a hawk. Officially you have a choice. Insist on it.0 -
The rate I got was always around €1.43 to the £0

The Visa Corporate exchange rate today is 1.47.

***NEW PROBLEM ... URGENT***
I am at work and have realised that I have a direct debit that is due to come out of my account tomorrow and the funds aren't in my Citibank account.
I remember reading that I can pay cash into my account at a high street branch.
Am I correct in thinking that I read this? If so what bank was it?
Many thanks.0 -
Lloyds TSB but it take a day or two for it to be credited to your account. Citibank branches are only in London or Manchester.0

If I were you I would cancel the Direct Debit today. Call the company tomorrow and tell them that due to a hitch you would like to pay over the phone by card (from an account with funds)
Otherwise you will get charged by Citi for a bounced dd.
Alternatively, call Citi and ask for an overdraft0
