I am losing the will to live with Citibank.

My debit card's chip became damaged so I ordered a new card. It arrived this morning but has no cheque guarantee function. I telephoned to ask why and was told I do not qualify for one. My previous card had one why not my new one? Well, according to the computer both of the cards were not cheque guarantee cards. I begged to differ as I still had the old card in my hand and all he could say was, "You won't be getting a cheque guarantee card"

In January I applied for the Barclays First Additions account via Quidco for the £30 cashack. They finaly got back to me about it and asked me to come into branch. A new account was set up with a 3in1 Connect Card. He asked if I had an overdraft with Citibank (I don't) to which I said £500. He matched it without even looking at a bank statement. He just overrode the computer giving me £100 overdraft.

    Bye Bye Citibank very shortly.

I've not had any real problems with Citi although I was a bit perplexed about the refusal of an OD that I applied for recently (see earlier post in this thread).

I've also opened up an A&L Premier Current account which is all good at the moment - Whilst I'll keep my Citi account I really wanted an account with a high street branch. And this account is fee free :D

    Exactly.

All our Woolwich branches are becoming Barclays so I thought, "why not" and was chuffed to bits they would match my "overdraft" and give me a full card.

And with 2 branches near me it will be handier lodging cash and cheques. However, I will keep the Citibank account open in case something goes wrong with Barclays in the same vein as HSBC. :p

There is a notice in one post office i use in oldfield park, bath regarding the situation between the post office & citibank plc.

It appears that Citibank used to run some of the cards for the postoffice (i presume pension withdraws etc.), this is being withdrawn and customers migrated to a new company (cannot remember the name).

However, my citibank card worked fine last time in there which was approx. 10 days ago.

Maybe this may help that due to the changeover all citi cards are blocked at the moment?

    Hi All,

3 month update for anyone interested -

Just been upgraded to a 3-in-1 debit card - however they have to block the old debit card while the new one is issued , so havent given them the go-ahead yet for this.

However, I'm not eligible for the overdraft facility currently - which isn't too much of problem.

The only downside of having a Citibank account is I cannot pay 02 using either my debit card or the Citi Credit card I have - so Nationwide account is being opened for this.

All in all very very pleased with Citibank, always polite on the phone and email responses.

    Gavin

I pay my O2 account on line and have no probs. :o

I have removed my post, sorry if I have offended anyone, as I did take the post the wrong way, anyway its not a problem just wont use the post office anymore, dont usually use it to be honest, but after the way they treated me the other day, wont give them my custom anymore, once in a blue moon I need to send something off, I will make sure I have cash on me if I ever need to use a post office again.

Has anyone used Lloyds TSB branches to deposit cash into your current account? How does it work?
I have a pay-in slip here filled out, what do I do with it? I think the person at the desk would be confused as they wouldn't have many Citibank customers in this small town

No problem at all. Just pay it in as usual. The staff can see from the sort code that Citibank actually use Lloyds for clearing.

well, I am amazed, went into local co-op shop, bought an item for £9.79 paid with card, no bother at all, our local co-op is also our main post office, went to post office to send a parcel off, put card in machine, (chip n pin) and it was declined, wow, asked why and the teller said in a rather snobbish tone, we dont except those kind of cards, went to the hole in the wall, balance £134.00 no money in machine, went to another bank, hole in the wall, got some money out went back to post office, sent parcel, then asked to see someone in charge, asked why they didnt except "that sort of card" was told it was an error, tried again with card with superviser, card declined, the company who runs the post office wont except citibank debit cards, wow, I have never been more annoyed in my life, so be warned, post office is a no go.

The post office machine did not accept my capital one visa credit card but it accepted the citi visa debit card and halifax electron card which is quite strange.
