I always thought you could only pay at a Post Office with a debit card?0

Yet another niggle.
I bought an item on t'internet for £205 on Saturday. I wanted it delivered to a friend so put in their address details. Transaction was declined as it must be sent to mine. Filled in mine and it went through OK.
For some reason £410 had been pre-authorised from my account. Telephoned the merchant saying no, just one order. Contact the bank. I phoned Citibank and was told both sums had been sent to the merchant. Phoned the merchant and was asked to phone the bank and get the 2 authorisation codes. Phoned Citibank and was told I couldn't have them because there were none.
AARRGGHHH!!!!
Will have to wait 3 working days to see which one of the payments is "claimed" by the merchant. After that, one or both will go back into my account.0 -
AFAIK, the pre-authorisation will be down to the merchant and not Citibank. At a previous job we used to place orders with one company and they always pre-authorised to reserve goods and then again to take payment - it really used to pee customers off that they were unable to spend their cash until the first lot of preauthorised funds were released. It's a bit of a cheek really by the merchant...:happylove Tori Bellatrix :happylove

Thanks, will I get a reciept too?0 -
Has anyone used Lloyds TSB branches to deposit cash into your current account? How does it work?
I have a pay-in slip here filled out, what do I do with it? I think the person at the desk would be confused as they wouldn't have many Citibank customers in this small town
It's just the same as paying any 'bill' over the counter at LloydsTSB. It has LloydsTSB collection account etc on the pay-in slip.
I would expect my local Lloyds to have not had any Citibank pay ins before either as everyone in my town seem to bank with either Lloyds, Barclays or HSBC.0 -
Ok, I am seriously thinking of moving away from Citi
In the last few weeks we have been unable to use our card abroad, that's being dealt with and then we have the following
*Husband wrote a cheque to our joint account for £1200. I had a phone call from Citi 3 days later saying they could not process his cheque as the words and figures differed, fine, they said they'd return it.
Cheque returned, words and figure both the SAME. Citibank say they have 'no idea' how this happened and are 'investigating'.
*Both our 3 in 1 card suddenly kept being declined, Citibank ordered us new ones, we received 2 in 1 cards, no cheque guarentee, we pay £10 for our account and we complained and were told we did not meet thier minimum score for a cheque guarentee, despite having them before.
*Because of the fiasco with the cheque, we had little money left in the account and we tried to arrange an overdraft, we were told £500 was agreed and would be available on Tuesday 8th May, it wasn't and so I rang them and was told again 'you do not meet our minimum score, please try again in 6 months'
I have now sent a 4 page letter of complaint whilst we look for alternate banking facilities.£2 Coin Savers Club (Christmas)- £86£1 Jar (Christmas)- £29Christmas Vouchers Saved: £1450 -

This is what happened to me.
I am now switching to Barclays First Additions - £1500 interest free 90 day overdraft, £500 overdraft and 3in1 connect card plus branches.0 -

Oh Dear .. That doesn't sound good.
In an earlier post, I bemoaned the fact that they wouldn't even consider me for an OD .. without even checking my credit files ... and my account conduct has been flawless since I started with them. I also pay £10 and don't have a cheque guarantee.
I've since opened an A&L account and eventually will transfer all to them ... I'll stil keep my citi account though as apart from my little gripes I've not had to many problems with them.:happylove Tori Bellatrix :happylove

Thanks, will I get a reciept too?
I guess if you either use the pre printed paying in book supplied by citibank or use one of the paying in slips then the counterfoil will be stamped in exactly the same way as paying in at any other bank.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.
