HSBC reduced my O/D today from £300 to £5. Telephoned to ask why and was told HSBC have decided to close my account and have given me 30 days notice. No reason was given. I was shocked to say the least!
Just as well I opened a Citi account in January.
just as well you have another bank to fall back on.

I have been really interested in the Citibank situation and decided to apply for the account. Having not got to the replies where people started to be turned down I assumed that I would be accepted. I was wrong! My rejection letter arrived yesterday and I thought - Oh no! I am the 1st to be turned down - just how bad can my credit score be??. We are in the fortunate situation of being able to deposit about £4000 per month into the account, but we have 2 CCJ's (both 3 years old but not satisfied) and some defaults - again 3 - 5 years old. I have just written my appeal letter to try and explain that the debt was caused by redundancy and that we have paid off about £35K of a £50K debt and are taking our responsibilities seriously.
The main reason for my post was to ask if anybody had appealed a declined application and whether anybody had been sucessful in getting a decision changed. Or am I really shooting in the dark with this? Thanks for any comments.
good luck cw

Please inform them if you are going to use your card abroad....I just rang to order a new paying in book and mentioned I'd be going away soon so I may be making transactions in the USA and the lady said 'thanks for letting us know...we would have automatically stopped your card if you hadn't told us!'
Also, card got declined 4 times on Weds for no reason, even Citibank couldn't tell me why!
lol
it'll come I just know it,

and as it is shutting down at 10.30 pm until 6 am I guess this will sort it out, well lets hope so, if you dont hear from me for a number of days then this will be why. have you tried another browser, such as opera, and tried going on citi online then just to see if its your browser or the website itself, as I havent had any problems at all with the site, I went on the link earlier and it was ok, although I just ordered some envelopes, just to see if it would let me, even though I dont need them, go to
www.download.com
and get another browser to try you can always add/remove it afterwards if you dont want it.
also I did notice tonight that it asked me to accept the certificate for the citi site, which I dont usually have to do and thats with firefox

if you remember your 5 security answers then you can change your pins with phonebanking.
Well carrying on from the problem I'm having.
I rang up Citibank CS last night and got a French Guy (I think) who I could barely understandHe didn't quite grasp what I was trying to explain and he kept saying that you need to register to use Net Banking, even though I went over n over it saying that I am registered, I can log in but can't do anything with my account once I get there. Well he basically just kept repeating himself until i admitted defeat and I'm being sent a new e-Pin so that I can register <sigh>.
If it wasn't for the Visa Delta card and the fact I can't get one with anyone else I wouldn't be with them anymore. My IVA payment for this month is now 10 days late because I cannot log on and pay it. ARGHHHH!!

Hey sorry to hear your having problems with calling them I have called them a few times and never had any problems with them understanding me. I have experienced long delay in getting through to them.
Re your IVA payment - Why not call back and chat with someone else and ask them to make the payment from your account.
I hope once you get the nw pins etc all will be fine.If I have been helpful - Hit the Thanks button0 -
