Hi Tori I got the welcome letter and the Flex cashcard yesterday. I am happy that I got this Nationwide Flex account as they report back to credit reference agencies about your account conduct on monthly basis. This will give me a chance to improve my credit rating.
So did you appeal, what happened?

Hi, thanks for letting me know. I've not done anything at the moment as I'm still waiting for the letter explaining why I've been turned down ... :rolleyes:

I will appeal when I finally receive it ... BTW, did you apply online or fill in an application form ..

So Tori, let me get this right. You couldn't get a basic account with Nationwide but you got one with Citi with visa debit etc?

Yep, exactly that ... lol ...

I can only assume it is because I purchased a new moble contract and had about 3 searches on my credit score .. before getting the one I wanted ... and I suppose that has lowered my score ... :doh:

I applied online for a basic Flex account and they sent me a form to sign and return it with some ids. I did that and a week after that I got the account.

citi dont cease to amaze me, without sounding awful Tori, your credit rating must be pretty bad to not be able to get a basic flexaccount. Yet citi will give you a full account! madness.

It is madness but this is the thing ... I don't have an awful credit rating ... I don't have any credit rating ... I've not had credit for years and years so my file was deemed 'inactive'.

Hence my reasons for building it back up .... but it's proving trickier then I thought ...

i applied online for the flex they sent me a form to sign didnt even ask for id. Although i did have an account with them about 8 or 9yrs ago, (which i defaulted for 2.5k) about a week later got the card and pin through. Cashcard only though so not a great use, ill prob just keep it as a spare and use it when i go abroad for fee free withdrawals.

Have to say I am intrigued why I've been declined .... Hopefully I'll get the letter soon and can start the ball rolling ...
