  • Yes I agree those who got rejected for the plus account should try for the access account, may be 2nd time lucky.;)

It doesnt make any sense to me why would you be accepted for one and not the other? Surely the only difference is that one has a monthly fee with additional services.

Im really seriously thinking about cancelling my application.

Citibank seem like a right bunch of cowboys, doesnt seem like they have any straightforward criteria. It also sounds like they make it up as they go along.
  • thanks khuramm think i will apply, is it better to apply on your own, me an hubby have joint account at mo, is it true we'd get a switch card, at moment we had overdraft and card taken off us plus cheque book, i hate having to use solo card all time !
well isn't that the pickle on the giant crap sandwich that is my day...

As stated before citibank considers the applications on individual basis i.e there is no computer which will directly say yes or no. If they think you are worthy they will give you the account otherwise reject you and every bank has the right to do so, what so ever their criteria is.

They probably have different criteria for the access / plus account - Sounds like you want to cancel incase you get declined ... but you might not be .... it's worth a try ...

Oh dear! So, you have to proof your 'worthiness' to join the club.

Makes citibank like the freemasons, I suppose.

Every bank checks your credit worthiness unless you are applying for a basic account.

sorry khurammm but I think you are talking nonsense.

If they think you are worthy they will give you the account?

So how can someone who earns 25k+ a year and have a couple of missed credit card payments get declined but then someone who is on benefits and have defaults and ccjs get accepted. There is no logic in it.

No i dont want to cancel in case i get declined that doesnt bother me im used to rejection. Im just seriously thinking whether i want to bank with a bunch of cowboys who make the rules up as they go along.
