First off , i'd like to again say a big thanks to sgx and cw , without their posts i wouldnt have bothered applying , but i did , and we are now proud owners of a proper C/A , so natwest can shove their step account.(after they've refunded my charges of course!!:D
I , too , nominated sgx for post of the month , well deserved i reckon!!
Cards came this morning....cant see anything on them about being c.g card , so i guess theyre just debit , but thats fine with us.Lovin' citibank , friendly and helpful.....SOOOO different than natwest!!

Basically citibank accepted a lot of people with not so good credit rating and who could not get a full current account any where else.
Therefor people which got this account were quite :j :j including me.
But now citibank seems to be quite choosy while giving an account to the new applicants as a lot of people have been rejected by them laterly.

Well I will stick with Nat West for now and hope that in time they will let me upgrade to a cheque book once they see the account has been operated properly. Does anyone know if this is likely or if it is all subject to credit scoring?

Hi FD.......well not wanting to disappoint you , and we may be the exception to the rule......we have had a step account with nw for 6 years , they have had my wages , kevs wages , child benefit and wftc's going in....and they STILL wont upgrade our account , because of our credit score. My argument was always that as people they can see how much money is going in there , that its been maintained properly etc etc , but all we got is "computer says nooooooo "
as kev is now self employed we really needed a "full" account with debit card , and we were lucky enough to be accepted by citi , although i must add that i did send them a mountain of paperwork with our application , so maybe that helped. As i say , maybe we were an exception with nw , but you did ask..................

Getting back to the debit card.........

first off , i too have used mine quite extensively , and (fingers crossed) so far i've not had a problem with it , so all good there.:)
Now i'm sure i remember a couple of peeps saying that they had had problems registering the card with paypal.....does anyone know if there have been any developments on that issue and if paypal are now recognizing the card??? TIA as always.

  • Hi, i have 4/5 defaults and 1 ccj for £300 and my partner has worse credit than me, went into yorkshire bank, and never got credit checked, you only checked if your bankrupt but we got the account and got a nice blue maestro that works everywhere and the nice lady told me that the card is the same as all the other accounts, and you get all the buff on current accounts with it, just no interest earned. But i would go there for def!! as there will be no worries in getting it. Nationwide can get stuffed!! :)

Nope just that you get a proper Visa debit card and an interest free overdraft of £500 if you pay in your salary. If the OD is not applied for then there is no minimum deposits required.

Mega happy with Citi Bank so far.

I have spent over £1000 in the past 24hrs using my debit card in varies places including on the net, over the phone and many shops and not hand any problems.

I also taken £400 in @ the autoteller today which was great as I am normally restricted too £250.

    Another happy customer.
