Mine didnt come by courier just came 1st class.
  • Spoke with citi on the phone to see how my application is going and they advised me it has been declined and I will receive a letter.......not suprised but little dissapointed........its only a bank account though eh

Ah, sorry to hear that Electriclady ... you must be disappointed :o

If it's any comfort, I applied for a Nationwide Flex account on Monday (as I want an account that reports monthly to the CRA's).

I checked today and my application has been cancelled !!!

I phoned to check and they say that my credit score was to low even for a basic Flex account ... so I've been able to get an account with Citi with proper debit card and cheque book but not even a cash card account with NW. I now have to wait for the letter which 'apparently' gives me more details. None of it makes sense ..

I got my documents and a positive letter dated 31st January sayingthey would contact me in 15 days, I rang back after 15 days and they said they needed 3 years address history and I had only given them 2yrs and 5 mths ???? So I gave them my address and they said they would continue to process the application. I said "were you going to write/call to check this address" and she said, "yes, today". (Convenient!) So I phoned on Tuesday and they said "Call back friday (tomorrow) for an update" Grrrr. But my friend got declined when she rang up to check her progress....
So I'm not hopeful at all.

I think citibank must be really strict now regarding their new accounts and that we who got the account were really lucky.
I am just happy that I found this site and applied for the account in time. :j
I have got proper Visa debit card and chequebook with this great current account and the only thing which I could get before this account was a basic account with Visa electron card.

Tori you can swap your citbank full acc, for my nationwide flexaccount cashcard only if you want lol.

I reckon citi have been inundated with enquiries and applications now so are being more choosy. Im not going to bother phoning for an update ill just wait and see, you never know it could be that when you phone they just tell you that you have been declined to get the number of applications down as they are snowed under.

    Yorkshire here I come

why don't you think so? Its sounds to me like anything could happen with this bunch of cowboys.

Accepting people with loads of CCJ's then declining people with a couple of missed credit card payments.

I reckon they make it up as they go along.
