this was dated 06/02/07
so when he got the next letter I felt sure it would be his pins, only it was not much to my son's dissappointment it was a decline letter.
the letter goes like this
Dear mr xxxxx
Thank you for your recent application for a citibank account.
We regret that after a careful review of the information provided, we are unable to approve your application at this time, as it does not achieve our minimum credit score requirement. Please refer to the enclosed leaflet (there wasn't one) for a full explanation of the credit scoring process and how you may obtain a copy of the information held about you at experian.
Should your circumstances favorably improve (we suggest that you wait at least six months ) and you would like to re-apply for a citibank account we would be delighted to re-consider your application.
please find enclosed the original documentation sent with your application, (there was none)
Yours sincerely

and thats that then, I dont know what they mean by check his credit score as he's never had any debt but maybe because he's not an the electrol roll and he needs to buff up a credit score so that its a good one, as if he hasn't had any credit he cant have a credit score I suppose, if you can understand what I mean although he did not apply for the o/d they still did a check on him, wow
hope this helps anyone, and clears up any doults with letters,
oh well its not all bad news he can re-apply, but I dont think he's all that bothered really, as he has his switch card and is quite happy with that, it was me really saying he could make some money through quidco guess he wont get that now, and the fact that he is coming up to 21 and should have an adult account and not a mickey mouse account, anyway hope this helps,
cw

Dont worry, you might still get it. I think CW's son didn't get it, because he doesn't have any traceable credit history.0 -

Just to throw a small spanner in the works ... I didn't have a traceable credit history and I still got it .... Although I am on the electoral roll at my current address but not my previous address and I don't have any loans, cards, overdraughts etc....:happylove Tori Bellatrix :happylove

Ar well.........it seems pretty impossible to predict whether I will get the account but I'm now swaying more towards the fact that theres no chance. Oh well its not the end of the world, its just a bank account.......although it would have come in handy0 -

Not long ago ... Received ID back on 27th Jan and Welcome Pack on 31st Jan ... then about a week and a half later to get card and PINS through ...

Reading between the lines on this, I looks like they have had a push or promotion, and set a target number of new accounts at the same time as relaxing the criteria.
Now that they have reached that number they may have reverted to the normal checking procedures.
Thats one theory anyway!10 1p's are better than no 10p's !!!

Thanks..........well i will keep everyone posted. I just don't understand how they can send such a positive letter out then decline people, in the letter there is no ifs or buts it just sounds like you will have the account opened.......my mum received the same letter as i am trying to open one for her too.
I will let everyone know how i get on.......:o0
