this gives me a bit of hope then. Not bothered about the OD anyway havent had one for years now anyway so have learned to live without one.

Just want a decent card that I can use anywhere and be able to walk into a shop knowing i can pay by card without having to look for signs saying "mickey mouse kids account card can be used here (visa electron)

    lol.

Have you missed credit card payments recently?
  • did you go through quidco, my sons quidco account is showing up £1 from citi yet we haven't got anything back yet, although he did get his id's back on friday I think, and a letter saying it was now in the processing department so sounds hopefull, I hope he gets one, but he still has his switch account with hsbc to fall back on.

  • Is there an appeal procedure you can follow if you're turned down? I haven't send my ID off with the form yet, but think I won't get it.

Why not send it off and await there response, they can only say yes or no. So really nothing to lose and lot to gain. It look like Citi look carefully at each application before they decide to reject.

I guess if you do get rejected you could write to them to appeal the decision, only if you feel you have the grounds to appeal.

some people who have been declined sent photocopies so make sure that you send originals of your bills/bank statement.
and you wont know unless you take that final leap, yes or no, its up to you.
let us know either way what happens, you never know you might surprised.

  • I just called for a progress update and have been told that I have been declined an account.
I have 1 ccj and a few defaults.
I am on the electoral roll, have been with my current bank over 6 years. Isent them original utility bills and a check from my current account.
Do you think it is worth an appeal ? I have a bad credit rating but I do take home £1275 a month....

I think you should appeal as my income is only about £1250/month and I got the account. I didnt even send them a cheque and my credit score isnt good at all but I dont have any ccj or defaults. Its just so wierd you have got a current acount at the moment and they rejected you as I didnt even have a bank account when I got accepted.
I dont think that its so easy any more to get a citibank account as it was before.
You can try for the halifax easycash, a good account and you also get a visa electron debit card with it.

Thanks- I will see if there is an appeal proceedure. I have a full current account with Abbey but as I am claiming back bank charges I was trying to get another proper current account in place incase Abbey close my account!
The thopught of life with just an electron card is horrible!!
