So who has applied recently that has a similar credit rating to me?

2 defaults one 5yrs ago and one 5 1/2 years ago. No CCJ's missed a couple of credit card payments here and there but only 1 month then brought it back up to date the next month. No continuous missed payments.

Anyone got similar and been accepted? Im kind of twitching a bit as Im so used to getting turned down for a decent account!

that doesnt sound as bad as some people and they have been accepted I'm sure you will be fine, and I thought I was worried, lol, all I have is the water board, mind you I have started to pay them now, but they sold my credit out as I have been refusing to pay them for 7 years, so thats maybe why I got it as I dont have anything else, as it was 20 years since I did anything silly like not pay my catalogue because I couldnt afford to, lol thats along time ago now, but my credit score is quite good at the mo, my friend said go for it get everything you can and I said yes thats exactly the same attitude we all had years ago, bit off more than we could chew and look where it got us all. some people never learn. I learned the hard way I havent been able to get anything for such along time, I am not about to mess it all up now,

I applied on line can any one tell me when thay do the credit check is it before or after thay send the forms out to be signed ?

Not 100% sure but I think it is once they receive your application and ID back ...

Jonathon - re the credit check I did my application on line t the weekend and I have just checked my credit rating using the experian online service.
There is no search recorded for citibank, there is however a search recorded for Nationwide current account which I applied for and was turned down (well just offered the basic cashcard only)

I applied for this a few hours before finding out about the city bank account. So it appears that they havent done the credit search yet, so maybe they are waiting till they get my paperwork etc.

I have countless defaults and missed credit card payments spanding 18 months. But I have been in an arrangement with my creditors to pay reduced payments for the past 6-10 months.

Yep, got my card and pins. Didn't apply for the O/D though.
