ok so i got my application form very quick. next problem i dont have a cheque book for the 1 pound cheque. but i have read on some posts that thay will accept other ID now the question is what can i send them and should i ring them first to explain the situation.
    any ideas thanks.

    Hello There,

I was in the same situ as you regarding the cheque book, I sent them a photocopy of my driving licence, passport and bank card with signature. I also popped a letter explaining that I did not have a cheq book however I have taken it upon myself to send additional ID.

    Hope that helps

Ps - I got the account and now have a chq book too

  • Hi crasychic,
yes, it is better and easier to fill out the form online,
then you get your application form,
    if lucky enough,
which is auto filled for you you sign it and send it back with your ID's,
it is best if you send original forms of ID for example,
    a letter from the DWP,
    a utility bill,
    this could be,
    bt phone bill,
    gas/electric bill,
    water bill,
    a council tax bill,
    rent agreement,
    housing benefit award letter,
    or a photo copy
of your driving licence photo or paper version,
a photo copy of your passport.
need any help filling out the form just ask one of us on this thread and we'll be happy to lend a hand.
    best wishes

CW can you tell me please that what is the best and fastest way to transfer money from my halifax account to the citi account. Can I do it online? If yes then plz tell how and how much time does it take for the transfer and is there any fee for doing online transfer?

  • regarding cheque books
yes you can order them online.
but know what you mean about losing your nerve
    my son is with HSBC
and every single time he rings them he either cant understand them and they lock him out of his account
so now if he needs to speak to them he just goes into the bank
    and I was with barclays
and I just coundnt understand why they wouldnt up-grade me
I have done a check with experian and equifax and cant see anything there
    apart from
    yorkshire water
but thats been on going for 7 years
    and is getting sorted now
they took my money and added to my bill instead of taking it off
then didnt seem to care about what they had done
so I refused to pay them another penny
it worked out better for me
as they want £6 a week for 52 weeks then if I dont default on it
which I wont as set up a S/O they will scrap the amount I owe at the end of 52 weeks
    nice one.

in the big book that came with welcome pack it says
    Transferring money

there are various options available to you when you need to transfer your money within the UK and abroad.
pick the option thats right for you.

use BACS if you want to transfer funds to another account in the UK at no cost.
your funds are normally credited within 3-4 working days.

use CHAPS if you want to transfer funds to another account in the UK and you need them to clear on the same day.
there is a charge for this service.

use SWIFT (telegraphic transfer) if you want to send payments abroad.
there is a charge for this service.

use CITIBANK GLOBAL TRANSFER for instant funds to other citibank accounts in selected countries in the UK and abroad. there's no charge when you transfer to accounts of the same currency. although a commission will be applied when changing currencies. you can use our multi-function cash machines, or citibank online, to transfer to a citibank account abroad or in the UK

    hope this helps
