Hi
After reading through this thread (thanks computerwoman for the advise)
i decided to apply for a city bank account, i have a very bad credit history no ccj;s but a few defaults, and cant get accepted for a debit card anywhere. I have one now but i am trying to reclaim bank charges, and my bank usually close the account after, so i need a parachute account, applied to Halifax, but just got a cashcard which isnt much use at all. Sent my id's off last saturday, anyone have any idea how long it will take, and if i have a cat in hells chance of getting this account?0 -

computerwoman wrote:what is this interest rate citi are talking about, call me dumb but I've only ever had 1 current account and I never really used it, and it was a very long time ago, do we pay interest on the money we have left in the bank to them or do they pay us interest on the money we have left in the bank. just wondering. doh, think I should re-name myself homer.
Hi CW you get interest on the money which you have deposited in your current account and you have to pay interest on any overdraft you have utilised. The rates are usually stated in per anum terms.<<If you liked what I said then feel free to click on the thanks button>>0 -
computerwoman wrote:A/1 every month you 'll receive a statement showing all the transactions you've made. your statement will also give you 14 days notice of any interest or standard account charges before they are deducted from your current account or savings account. we like to tell you when we have services or accounts that migth be of interest. this means that occasionally you may receive a letter, call or email, if you'd rather not receive any of these updates just let us know by calling citiphone banking or by sending a message to us through citibank online.

Well done for applying, I to dont have a very good credit history, no ccj's but I have 1 default and banks normally laugh when I apply for anything. Regarding how long it take's, it's took about 12 days from when I sent the info off they wanted, 3 days later got my council tax and phone bill back and the pin number's arrived this morning, I didnt ask for a overdraft plus my wages are going to be paid in so that may have helped. In my opinion you have a good chance of getting accepted. good luck.:jBSC MEMBER NO. 126:j0 -
I think that they have really tightened their acceptance procedure now and its going to be like any other bank current account ie they are going to have proper checks and every thing.
If you get rejected its worth to do an appeal if they allow so.<<If you liked what I said then feel free to click on the thanks button>>0 -
