Since people are asking a lot of questions about Citi bank current account I thought I might answer a few questions.
How do I know what account I have? If you applied through Quidco then you will automatically be upgraded to Citi bank Plus account. If you did not apply via Quidco then simply call Citi Bank on 0800 005500 and ask a member of staff which account you have.
I have a Plus account will I really pay £10.00 per month?
Yes you will from the 1st of April 2007 you will pay a fee of £10.00 per month which is deducted on the last working day of each month from your account.
What do I get for my £10.00 per month?
Annual Travel insurance for you and your partner.
You must be between 18 and 65
Cover up to 90days – 30 days max per trip
Medical expenses and Personal Liability of £2.000.000 each
Covers Delay. Personal Property, Lost luggage, Money, Missed departure.
*You can also upgrade to include children and or winter sports
Mobile Phone insurance
Identity theft protection
Card protection for all cards including non-Citi cards.
Interest from day one when cheque is put in account
Interest free £500 overdraft subject to status
Chequebook
Please note that after 3mths of having this account and you have operated it well you will be able to get a cheque guarantee card.
What if I don’t want this account?
You can easily downgrade to the access account which offers similar benefits such as chequebook, debit card, online banking. You will not get the above benefits such as insurance, fraud protection etc.
I would strongly advise people who have applied for this account via Quidco to keep it until they get their £50.00.
The plus account was previously known as the Sterling account.
Change you account from Plus to access by calling free phone 0800 00 55 00,
What type of card will I get?
This varies from person to person, you will either get a Visa debit card or you will get a Visa Debit card, which also acts a cheque guarantee card.
How do I get a chequebook?
Easy just call them or send them a secure message Via Citibank online to request one and you will get it within 4/5 days.
How do I pay money in to my account?
A few ways this can be done,
Via any LLOYDS bank – This can take up to 4 days to show in your account.
You can transfer money from any other account you have to this account- The time will vary depending on what time of day you request the transaction.
You can send cheques to the branch in England along with your pay in slip – Pay in books are available on request.
How can I access my money?
At any ATM that displays the Visa sign – Please beware that certain ATM’s make a charge for using them. Citi bank is unable to wave this charge, as they do not apply
It.
Get cash back when you use your debit card in a retail outlet – Max is £50 per transaction.
You can use your card online to pay for goods and services.
What’s the online banking like?
Personally I say its much better than other banks as it is user friendly, You can easily check balance, transfer money, pay bills, set up SO, cancel DD, many more things including sending messages to Citi bank.
Telephone banking?
Free phone call 24hrs a day, Ok their call centre is abroad but there staff speak good English and are very polite. Expect to be asked for your T Pin and to confirm certain details.
I hope this answers a few questions that some people may have.If I have been helpful - Hit the Thanks button0 -

I dont know if it has already been mentioned or not...(and cannot trawl through the threads to find out!)
But...
I just called citibank to ask about the access account as I will not pay 10 pounds for a bank account a month!
The very helpful lady on the phone informed me that as soon as my current debit card needs changing (expires, lost etc) that if I have an access account the only card I will get is a cash card!!!
Gutted!!
Just to make sure that people are aware, i'm peeved because its going to mean another change of banks...all I wanted was a debit card lolMrs Storeyxx

Ahh, see they are talking about the debit card issued...yes it's true we all have debit cards atm, and its true that with the basic account we wont have a cheque guarantee. So in actual fact, no where do they mention what happens when your present card expires, I suggest anyone with doubts should call Citibank.
I see an American company expanding to U.K, offering a 50 pound reward in cashback/ipods etc....getting all they custom they need for now, then piling a 10 pound a month charge, I am so gutted :eek:Mrs Storeyxx

to be totally honest, I only wanted a debit card, so I could shop online, but with all this hype about chip n pin nightmare getting your cards used by other un-savory characters has got me thinking about "what if this did happen to me" who would I go to, to get it sorted, am I covered, well under my house ins I am "sort of" so do I go with the £10 charge for peace of mind, or not, is it worth £120 a year, can I just add it on to my mastercard protection, if if if, what do I do, confused is an understatement, and if I say no to the £10 charge do I get down-graded, if so what card would I get, in the terms and conditions it states that you get a debit card I'm not bothered at the no guarantee bit because I very rarely send cheques, so what do I do.
