Nice to see this thread still alive! :D

I've not had any problems using my Citibank visa debit card yet although I only use it as a 2nd/backup account now that A&L have upgraded my electron to visa debit.

    very much still alive

Oh my recent complaint to Citi bank resulted in me getting a £20 credit to my account so I can't moan too much :money:

My claim has been submitted since 06 February 2006 so I doubt anything will come of it.
  • I want to buy something on ebay and pay via PayPal.

I have not been able to verify my debit card, I get the following message:
Unfortunately, this bank account cannot be used for Direct Debit because the bank either does not allow electronic Direct Debit or does not allow electronic transmission of the Direct Debit instruction (required to set up Direct Debit).

I have successfully managed to transfer funds from PayPal to my Citi account, but I just want to know if there will be a problem if I want to pay for something using my citi account in light of the above message.

Hope this all makes sense! :o
  • I've always used my Bank Details to pay Money FROM PayPal to Citibank, and my Debit card to transfer money TO PayPal from Citibank... Never had a problem.

I thought that if you couldn't do an electronic transmission of the DD Details you could print it off and do it manually?

  • Seeing as this thread has popped back onto the first page of the forum.. Is anybody still having trouble using their Debit Card in certain shops?

    I don't know.

Is it required though to buy something do you think? Does the DD have to be in place in order for my payment to be accepted by paypal? I just don't want it to be returned and cause hassle for the seller :)

Just did a test by buying a small item. It seems to have gone through fine. I added the card as another credit card and that seemed to do the trick..
  • Yeah you don't really need the Direct Debit setting up unless you want to send "eCheque" type payments, Which to be honest 99% of eBayers don't accept them anyway!

Now that you've added your Citibank card as a new Card on your PayPal account you can just select it when you reach the payment screen. :)

well so far I have only had to contact citi once to complain this was about lovefilms taking money they shouldn't have which with a little help from citi I got back...I think I am the first person to get any money back from lovefilms...although it cost me £4 in faxes who cares I won...and they did charge me £25 because of lovefilms as cos they took £14.99 I then didn't have enough money for BT but after an email to them saying it was causing me conciderable hardship they have given me back the £25 charge...so quids in me...I can not fault them in the 12 months that I have been with them this is the first charge there had to incur on me and it wasn't even my fault...:Dthe only place I have been declined was the post office...
