I am not disputing Guysdad advise here. Giving advise is commendable but digging into their previous posts and framing a picture and judging by the past posts and dragging on heels ????
thanks but the amount of free time one could get depends on the phase of hte life one is in....atm i have not as much of a time as other more frequent contributors BUT i did contribute in my capacity (see the thanks posts under my name).

The trouble with a lot of posters on this thread (and I mean the ones who are incensed about the price rise) is that they all say they are going to do this and do that, but in effect they all do nothing!
Not one person has challenged orange in court over the matter, yes they will run silly petitions, but nobody has done anything, they are all waiting for somebody else to do it as they know they are onto a lost cause.
BTW Guys Dad thanks ratio is higher than yours, (as you brought up the thanks issue) :o
What people choose to do with their time is up to them as long as they are not harming anybody.

To be honest there a lot more stuff going on to be worried about 4% rise by Orange that have the right to do it if you read your contracts which most people don't including me

There's Gas, electric, petrol, train ticket's, bus ticket's, but just a few
And yet most people on here are moaning about Orange increasing there charge,s by a couple of pence there's no point there doing it anyway

Like said above no one is going to take them on because they will loose.

Again, the amount of thanks one receive depends on their experience and expertise of the subject.that is why I said I contributed to my capacity.

I think everybody contributes to their capacity, even if it means whinging about a legal price rise, I'm only watching this thread now to see what finally comes off from it, although I do fear some are going to end up with eg on their faces :o

I just had a voicemail from orange regarding my official complaint where I stated the price rise was of material detriment to me. The tone of voice was that of how dare I question them, no apology, no customer relation tone but "Firstly we are not going to allow you to exit your contract without penalty..." then continued to refer to their terms. They then stated that both Ofcom and CISAS has reported that the price is in no way material detriment.

This response has just angered me even more and made me want to leave now. I thought that Ofcom had stated the material detriment needs to be assessed on a case by case bases?

Is there avenue left for me? If they are insisting that both Ofcom and CISAS are on their side?

You are entirely right about Ofcom's statement, and Orange are just trying to fool you into backing off because it saves them time.

Don't give up - what have you got to lose by escalating it via the formal complaints procedure? Just a bit of time - and precious little of that!

Am i not allowed to have more than one contracts for mobiles? I never thought a mobile contract and a passport are same.....
Move on guysdad....my every comment is true in the past. I did have a contract with vodafone i did have a problem with them and that problem got resolved (may be you need some more time to go through my every other post).
I did move to Tmobile and stayed with them for 18 good months after moving from o2.....then moved to orange and now came out....i still got a voda contract which is to run out next month (missus uses it)....
now tell me what is your problem....i have seen also in the past you try to research on a comment from a user by going through their past posts and bring unnecessary discussions on here.
I only have posted in the orange thread because i had a contract which i now cancelled by paying their penalty.
Move on....I certainly dont have that kind of time in my life to research on a users past comments. I dont think it is necessary for me as its none of my business to interfere into others past and build up a picture of what they had done in the past.....

and one more thing, I only come here when i have a problem....so if you chance to judge me by my previous posts i am afraid that is the only things you ever find. as i said earlier due to my job commitments and other family issues i rarely find that kind of a time to come here and comment on things other than when i ran into problems .

When I read that you had cancelled a contract with Orange by paying off the remainder of a contract only taken out in September because of Orange's recent small increase, I could not comprehend why any MSE member would do that. Totally illogical and cutting one's nose off to spite their face. And if anyone had that money to spare, why would they be on a Money Saving site?

Did a quick look at your post history to see if you were an armchair warrior - only took 5 minutes - and found that you had problems with 2 other networks and had left a third all since April 2010. And a gripe against BT too.

In my book, that makes you a most unfortunate mobile user, if your posts are accurate.

But, I can't comprehend anyone's claim to have paid 21 months' rental as penalty to cancel their Orange contract because of the "principle" behind this relatively small increase, particularly with someone who has been as critical of 2 or the 3 other networks in the last 20 months, which, if true and with their "principles", would severely restrict their choice of which network to go to.

So in my book that seems to leave the conundrum, on this thread, of you either telling porkies about writing off 21 months' line rental or really throwing that money away.

Neither choice would appeal to me, but I joined MSE to save money.

But, forget it, Season of goodwill to everyone etc.
  • I do not understad it either. if I felt so strongly I would ensure that I used up all my maximum data and call and text allowances each month even if it meant making phone calls to another phone and leaving the call running. I wousl also download large files to suck up data and use a text scheduling app to sent texts every 5 minutes for each day fro 30 days to another PAYG moobile of mine i would keep switched off.

The I would cancel the contract

I will definitely send a screen shot of my final orange bill to you to change your perception of a user by your ability of judging a user by their past posts.
First and lastly I never sought your response or your opinion on my situation. I would never tend to call someone porkies or make an unsollicited judgement of a person.
This website is sometimes great to see people who offer genuine advise while aunt the sametime find some who are bullish and drag people onto unsolicited discussions and accusements just to prove the point what they think is correct.

Kind offer, but no need. I will accept that, rather than pay Orange a couple of quid per month extra for a service they would have provided, or waited a month or so for further developments, you preferred to pay 20 months' rental up front for nothing. Presumably, you will be still requiring a mobile service that you will need to pay for. Doesn't make sense on a Money Saving site, but each to their own.

I stand by my remarks about you being a most unfortunate mobile user with disputes with Vodafone, O2 and Orange over the last 20 months.

However, when you wrote a couple of posts back............

18 months ago i signed up with tmobile on a 24 month contract because at work place Tmob was the only one with a strong signal. until 4 months ago i used to get a hsdpa signal with speeds of 2mbps download and 900kbps upload.

in another 5 months when my contract is up i will show my ***** finger to tmob/orange consortium and I am off to somewhen else who can deliver a CONSISTENT signal.
    .

So that's a full house, then, Orange, Vodafone, O2 and also T-Mobile - all in 20 months. I'm not making this up - all the quotes I have used are from you and are all factual extracts from your experiences with networks over the period.

Having used mobiles for more years than I care to remember with almost no problems, by comparison, you are a very unfortunate mobile user and, being a man of principle, rather than a pragmatist, you are clearly going to be facing some restriction in choice of alternative major networks, except 3.

i did say i have more than one contracts
if you search through my other posts currently i have 7 contracts running parallelly...
    hope this answers your question.
rather than spending time at looking at my previous posts, would not it be nice to limit the discussion to the topic of the thread?
as i said i never sought your response or reaction....i think you're over reacting on a topic that never asked for your or any help in this thread.
