MSE News: Orange to raise monthly mobile costs

Hmmm. Undoubtedly.
I doubt she would have bothered to unlock her Blackberry though (at least initially) as she is missing out on BBM until GiffGaff get that sorted out (hopefully next month, in which case the £120 loss to Orange I mentioned can be reduced to £10, which only takes one pay monthly customer increase to negate so few tears shed at Orange HQ!)0 -
I too have complained to Orange and received only standard replies even though I asked if I had exhausted their complaints procedure. My last contact with them was on 15th December when I just asked that specifically and nothing else and so far, despite receiving their "we are experiencing unusually high volumes of emails and are currently taking 7 days to respond" email I still haven't heard back after 16 days.
I'm not foolish enough to think there is any point in these complaints but I will complain to the regulator as while what they have done may be lawful it certainly isn't ethical and hopefully it will cost Orange more for that than they have gained with weasel words in their T & C
Has anyone actual had a response from the regulator yet? (I haven't trawled through 51 pages on this thread so apologies if already covered)

Hi - just wanted to run this past these forums to see if I'd missed anything obvious...
First some background (and apologies for the long first post!) ^^
I have an Orange contract and my phone had developed a fault. It was due to be collected by courier arranged by the manufacturer. Therefore, I packaged the phone up and left it with my receptionist at work awaiting collection.
A different courier turned up at our offices asking for directions to another company in the building, and noticing the package on her desk said that he would 'take it'.
Without thinking, the receptionist handed over the phone, which unsurprisingly never arrived at it's destination. Contacting the courier company who collected the phone proved fruitless as they have no record of it being in their system.
The police weren't able to fully investigate since the CCTV at work had a fault and couldn't be recovered.
I hadn't taken out insurance with Orange, but did have insurance with my bank account. However, since the package had been left with the receptionist, the insurance won't cover it as being lost / stolen.
The excess on my home contents insurance is £150 but I would have thought it also wouldn't cover the 'theft' since the phone wasn't in my possession at the time.
I received a text from orange advising that the cost of my contract would be increasing in Jan.
I've contacted Orange and they are offering to send me a replacement phone for £175. I've not really found orange customer service to be anything special and the price plan I was offered when I last renewed my contract doesn't really suit my needs.
Having calculated the costs, I think it would actually make more sense for me to cancel my existing contract with orange and go for a cheaper one with another provider, where I would also get a 'free' phone.
Current situation:
£38 / month * 12 months remaining on my contract = £456
Cost of replacement handset = £175
Total = £631
Bright idea:
cost of buying out my current contract = £307.93
£26 / month * 12 months contract = £312
Total = £620
So by my calculation, by paying the early termination fee and taking out a new contract (with Vodafone), I'd save £19 over the next 12 months (although I would be locked in to a new 24 month contract, but I'd be renewing in 12 months anyway).
Have I missed something? Is there anything I can do to reduce the cost of the early termination fee?
You have missed starting a new thread for this, have you missed something? Indeed you have, the the courier would have given a receipt for the parcel collection.0 -
however,you replacement handset would be worth more than £190

As per my post. Phone was left with my Receptionist awaiting collection. Random courier turned up. Receptionist handed over phone. Courier did not leave a receipt.
Thanks anyway.0 -

Strange every courier I know of has to scan for the item and leave a reciept of collection, however if in your world what you posted really happened , it is nothing to do with orange really, a courier just turns up randomly just seems ridiculous0 -

Any (honest) courier that is actually collecting something they are scheduled to collect would have to leave a receipt or ask the person they are collecting from to sign something saying its been picked up.however if in your world what you posted really happened , it is nothing to do with orange really, a courier just turns up randomly just seems ridiculous
Why would I make up something like that lol? The building I work in has several different companies in it. The courier was looking for a company on a different floor and asked my receptionist for directions.0 -

Sadly people do fabricate stories on the internet, it comes as no surprise that I do not belevee your story, if the courier was looking for another company to collect/deliver a parcel, then they will be traceable, at 1st read it seemed like a random person just came in off the street coincidently as your package was due to be returned. Multi occupancy buildings often have a reception desk and visitors sign in when passing beyond reception and finally it is usually the same courier that covers the area.0 -

Maybe you need to re-read my post since it did state that it wasn't a random person off the street, and I did trace the company (there were 4 different couriers signed in at the main reception that day) but they claim to have no record of the parcel being picked up from the receptionist on my floor.
Anyway, as this is going nowhere, have a Happy New Year. :money:0
