MSE News: Orange to raise monthly mobile costs

Maybe you need to re-read my post since it did state that it wasn't a random person off the street, and I did trace the company (there were 4 different couriers signed in at the main reception that day) but they claim to have no record of the parcel being picked up from the receptionist on my floor.
Anyway, as this is going nowhere, have a Happy New Year. :money:
Yes I will have a Happy New Year, don't be offended that I question the posting of the story, if there were 4 different couriers then it stands to reason it could only be one of the 4.
See the trouble with this thread is not really about people being angered about the Orange price increase, it is about folk wanting to blag their way out of a commitment0 -

Good luck tracking it but the fault sees to lie with the receptionist who didn't ask for a reciept.
It's nothing to do with Orange how the phone was lost so why should they let you out of the contract?
Sorry thats probably not what you want to know.0 -

I've identified the courier company that collected the phone but they are saying they have no record of it and (rightly so) won't divulge the name of the specific courier who collected the package, so there doesn't seem to be any other way of tracking it.
IMEI number has been blocked since it happened so don't think the phone can even be used (although no doubt there's a way of circumventing that).
Police aren't investigating it further (again rightly so) as in the grand scheme of things, there's more important things for them to be dealing with.
Totally agree it's nothing to do with orange, and not looking for them to let me out of the contract because of it. Think that was just implied by DUTR.
Having said that, I feel that orange could have been more helpful to me in fixing the fault with the handset since it was still within its 12 month manufacturer's warranty and I would have thought they have a better relationship with the manufacturer than I would. However, they will only assist with that whilst the handset is less than 6 months old, after which it is left to the customer to deal with the manufacturer directly (this was the reason the phone was due to be collected by the courier in the first place. Again, not oranges fault and I found the manufacturer to be very helpful and easy to deal with).
My other half is with O2 and they replaced her handset in store after 10 months of ownership as they don't have the 6 month rule.
The price increase is just the final straw in what's been an unpleasant customer experience for me from them (no doubt others have a more positive experience with them so this is just my opinion)
Was going to wait until my contract was up and not renew with them but after calculating the cost of switching, I'm heading down that route now.
Anyway sorry for all the off-topic nonsense.0 -

Nope that was not what was implied, I looked at you post as original aas it was as if it were a new thread, the handset has gone missing, you cannot prove it was lost or stolen, a courier could have taken it, or the receptionist could have taken it, none of it is orange's fault, it is not a case of defending Orange in this case. My postings may have seemed to you as antogonising, but in practice few put the blame on themselves for losses, whoever has the handset has a faulty handset0 -

Maybe you want to clarify what you were implying then...Yes I will have a Happy New Year, don't be offended that I question the posting of the story, if there were 4 different couriers then it stands to reason it could only be one of the 4.

One month later, still no reply. Really would just like to cancel with them now, had enough but can't afford the penalty, given my contract wont end until October 2013 LOL0

Haven't read any of this thread but just wanted to add that when my time is up with Orange that I WON'T be renewing my contract.
I have learned to vote with my wallet - I hope that everyone else who objects to this does the same. Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0 -
Also going to be leaving. This isn't really the done thing, regardless of whether they are right or wrong or legally doing this (which, incidently is no excuse for some of the downright condescending replies from people on this thread. Have you all forgotten why we all joined? TO SAVE MONEY!), it is a very bad buisness option in this climate more than any other time. The costs could easily be absorbed with little impact, and could in fact, have been used to attract customers.
Since joining t-mobile the service has gone very poor, I live close to the centre of Manchester and now have noticably worse reception.
Don't complain, you will get nowhere, if you can pay your contract up, or are close to the end as I am, just leave. Make sure you tell them your reasons and stand by the decision to leave.0
