    Hi Debitcardmayhem;;;;
    It completely logs me off the internet;;I have to put my router password to log on again;;;obviously, it auto logs me off here too, as I,m not online; I have to press power button, ( orange) to enter p/word, then power button turns blue;
    It,s got to be AOL. This and my speed problem is convincing me that AOL is playing silly beggars;; Probably never taken DLM off from start 6 years ago;; There,s nothing in the router to alter.default;;always on;;unless I,m missing it??Been right through the router;
    It,s always on in connection mode on BB internet. It,s been doing it for years, always thought it was AOL, knocking me off when idle;;
    Sometimes I will get dialogue box saying AOL, diconnected error; but normally nothing;;;;Just have to type my router p/word in to get back online, then same again, to get on here, although, this p/word is saved on chrome;;

    if it's not the Idle Timeout then it may be a dodgy router, do you have a spare/could borrow one to try instead ??

    I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

    Hi Gunjack, seem to be putting you guys to a lot of trouble;;sorry;;;It,s always done it from new, even with other speedtouch routers, had 3 in total...still got the one I had before, that,s why I changed it to this one;;
    I just thought it was AOL knocking me off when idle, to save bandwidth for others, always thought it strange;;but, with thesignal I,m getting, seems unlikely;???
    :mad: It can be a pain if you are half way through something, get called away for 15 mins or so, then have to log back on again;;;
    only me uses it, so never log off, or change users;;on all day;;;
    Sometimes it will stay on for hours, then it will start logging off after 15 mins or so.....no conformity: always starts with aol browser first disconnecting, leaving chrome ok;;;;;;then if idle, whole lot logs off...
    aol,s always closing,if not used; only have it on for my e-mail;;;
    might think of tt essentials, if I can strike a deal;;;;aol, said they would renew router, not speedtouch, if I renew contract;;;;similar contracts;:(no point buying new router, might as wel renew contract, get 1 free;;
    It,s a pain, but lived with it ages, just thought the speed/router could be connected;;;;aol, won,t support speedtouch now, it,s too old they said;;;;3 years at most from them;;;;they are fishing:exclamati

    did you know you don't need to use AOL's browser to access your e-mails ??? Just open chrome, go to aol.co.uk, log in on the site and you'll be able to use your e-mail.

    The AOL software you've installed on your machine could itself be the issue - they include all sorts of !!!! in it, which can do these sort of things, including slowing down your machine and burgering up connections. And guess what????.. YOU DON'T ACTUALLY NEED ANY OF IT !!!!!

    Hi Guys, thanks for everything.. Asyou can see, There,s plenty to choose from.
    They areall itemised for cost.
    Believe it or not, AOL, are dearer than the offers they have sent me by post/phone;;
    It,s speed that,s my concern not usage......
    Don,t watch films/video/youtube, or anything of that ilk;;
    just buissiness/banking/bit of surfing;;;;nothing much....mostly on here
    :rotfl:

    fttc;; what,s that ?/+pcp..Not quite familiar with exchange abbreviations?
    No rush to change, not saving much by changing, so maybe the devil yo know eh::
    As I said earlier, I can go to SKY via :Grandson for half price, family/friends;;;he,s a manager for them;;;but, there,s no fibre here.
    Live by Emerdale or Esholt ,0.5km as it,s proper name is.
    Get the dingles to tap into it:rotfl:
    I really appreciate your help. if you lived local I,d buy you a pint in the Woolpack;;:beer:
    Given the choices that you have available on your exchange, I am amazed that you have put up with this pathetic service for so long especially as you say "It,s always done it from new".

    Switch to a better ISP and enjoy the internet, they don't deserve your custom!
