    Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 6,976

    Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/MB]: 76.13 / 353.09

    Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 19.5

    Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 14.5 / 25.0

    SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 29.0 / 14.0

    Wow, wish I had a 25db line, with that on ADSL2 you should be getting at least 16 Mbps, what service are you paying for?

    Are you on LLU or BT, are you with AOL/talktalk
    That gum you like is coming back in style.

    Hi, aol.talk
    been with them years, tt now.
    out of contract now,they keep asking me to renew at cheaper price.
    pay £7 for bb+unlimited calls, but my line is with bt.
    aol.want line, bit dubious of changing.
    If as you say I should be getting a good speed, how come I,m not.?
    BT told me the copper line would only give me 4mbs at most, but hardly ever get that.
    always sub1.5. , and normally sub 1mbs;
    Just done 5 tests , 1 directly after the other.
    Speeds good today, no buissiness's working, or very little using which is most unusual;
    2.3
    1.2
    4.1 exceptional
    1.5
    2.1
    I guarantee if I repeat the same in an hour or so, the results will be sub 1.5 or sub 1.0.
    Ther,s never any consistancy;
    that,s using chrome browser;
    EDIT;;
    Just repeated same, 15 mins,
    1.8
    3.8
    3.2
    0.8
    2.2
    These are really good for me.
    Everyone gone to the moon I think; If they were like this all the time, i,d be happy..

    Looks like you are getting your BB via BT rather than Talk Talk, and that you are being throttled at peak times, so it will be 8 Mbps max. If Talk Talk have their kit at your exchange and you are moved onto it you should get a faster connection, but confirm this with them first.

    If you do a Samknows exchange search you can see what other options you have.

    Hi,There kit,s always been at my exchange;;; SAm says AOL is LLU enabled;;Operator presence;and Talk Talk is stated separate; but identical;
    so according to them; they are both LLU.
    That,s been the indecision of allowing my BT line to go to AOL.
    Are you saying I would be better off letting AOL have my line, and pay them?
    I,ve heard a few bad stories of people doing that, then having aggro later on, when trying to revert back;and cost;
    What do you reccomend;;;No onus on you;;My decission;; Been thinking for months now to let AOL have it.
    Only this week had another letter from them saying £13+£7=£20pm for all, but had e-mail month ago with better deal from them;+ new router;
    Also, BT are forever asking me to return to then and have my calls with them again, so I cannot see how BT are providing me with BB and strangling me, it doesn,t make sense::
    I am in a Dilemma whether to go ALL BT or ALL AOL;

    Only you can decide, a friend has all their services from TT and finds their customer service a bit of a hassle, I'm with Sky and find CS very good.

    Hi penrhyn, I appreciate all you have done for me today:beer:
    Until I get my speed sorted, I may as well stay with AOL, as if as you say, BT is strangling me with AOL, then no good changing to them;;as I am with them. iIndirectly;I cannot see that;;That means either AOL is strangling me, or gunjack may be right about my PC being at fault?????
    I can get SKY half price as my Gandson is Training Manager for them, he,s got most of family it;;I,ve never had any CS hassle with AOL, just the speed problem;;Don,t like chopping and changing, unless it,s vital; If I can slove speed issue, all,s fine:beer:

    joe, some points about this situation:-

    1. on inSSIder, if the two router's traces are not overlapping, then that's good - if they are, then change your wifi channel to one further away from next door's. inssider shows each router's graph in a different colour, that's perfectly normal. In Mini-Gun #1's bedroom on the top floor of a 3-storey house I often can see 8-9 routers, and that's quite colourful :)

    2. BT is the worst ISP for throttling your broadband service, as well as having the awful Dynamic Line Management (DLM) system in the country. If your broadband is on an IPStream connection (i.e. not LLU, as yours is) it is still subject to BT's DLM irrespective of who your ISP is, as it's still delivered to you through the BT kit in the exchange :( SO, while you are on a non-LLU connection, you'll probably never solve your speed issues.

    3. TalkTalk's LLU service is pretty good, despite the seemingly high complaints...lots of customers, so proportionately and statistically not a surprise. OK, first line support isn't great (especially if you're a techie yourself ;) ) but the forum help isn't bad. I'm ex-tiscali who migrated to the TT DSLAM and am pretty happy with the service - I'm on the Plus package, unlimited downloads, 24/7 calls and line rental, and even though sky are also at my exchange I have no plans to move to them, I like tweaking my line too much ;)

    4. As penrhyn mentioned above on a 25dB line, on ADSL2+ that you would get from a LLU provider, you'd get around 16Meg download speeds. You'll not get anywhere ear this unless BT put the 21CN kit into your exchange, but you'll still be subject to their throttling and DLM*

    5. Your current downstream snrm could be tweaked with DMT v7, but on an 8 Meg capped connection it's a bit pointless...

    6.put your phone no. into this to see what LLU operators are in your exchange and report back:-
    http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange_search click on your exchange name when it comes up, and it'll tell you :)

    * TT also use their own DLM on their lines, but it's less severe than BT's. AND, once your line has stabilised after the initial training period, they will turn it off if you ask them.

    Oh, and if you go LLU, don't go to AOHell for it, go direct to TT, sky or whoever else :)

    As you can see, pretty good choice;
    Been with AOL 6 years on this exchange, no other;
    No probs, except speed;;;;
    When you say LLU, what,s difference between TT LLU and AOL LLU ?
    I thought I was already AOL LLU. ? But not sure;Thought they were now the same?
    If I go , like you, direct to TT LLU, instead of just giving AOL my landline, as I already get BB unlimited. Phones calls unlimited, except 08,s, I pay extra 45p for 25% off mobiles, which I don,t use, I use 18185 for them;BB not capped at all. unlimited;
    As penrhyn stated, and you clarified, my signal should give me better speeds;;;but, alas not.
    I have heard of AOL, on here, strangling speed, whilst out of contract, to force you to renew it;;;How true it is, I don,t know;;
    AOL, stated on here, he didn,t think it was possible, but he should know, not think either way;
    When I went on inSSIDer, the graphs were not over lapping, mine was basiclly flat lining, and other BThub? was same;;;The 4 graph lines did not meet each other, no where near, unless I misread it??/don,t think so.Mine on top.(red) BT under(green).+TT and SKY. Don,t know if are online?
    I can pick pick up 3 BT connections by me, no TT or AOL.
    2 unsecured.
    Hope this helps , appreciate all you are all doing for me:beer:
