the store manager is disputing the way the giftcards were issued , so therefore voiding the original games

WRONG. The original transaction is complete and cannot be voided. If Argos made an error in the first transactions, then it's too late.
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

I incline to agree, in strict legal terms - unless the OP agrees for these transactions to be voided

In terms of getting Argos to do the right thing, it may be a useful negotiation position for the OP to offer Argos the option to return all his original games in order for them to engage with what they need to do to unscramble this plateful of eggs.

we can all discuss this for days, but until the OP actually contacts Argos HQ then this will never get sorted.
  • Then we might as well shut down this forum. An official representative of Argos has made a mistake, or so the majority of us think. Why should we wait until someone else from Argos says something? This board is about RIGHTS, and we know that companies don't always adhere to rights. The whole point of this forum is to make people aware of what their rights are. It's stupid to say "Well we don't know, let's wait until Argos say something". By discussing it, someone might be able to come up with actual facts to support either Argos or the OP.

my meaning was that we can discuss this for days but it is only Argos HQ (exec dept) that can actually try and sort out a solution for the OP.
we dont work for Argos or know the whole facts
  • I pay for gift vouchers with a dodgy cheque and get vouchers, contract concluded. I attempt to use vouchers and the merchant detects a problem and retains them pending investigation. Is that reasonable?

Argos would not say they have made an error, they have discovered after issue that the gift cards were obtained fraudulently (based on the T & Cs of the game exchanges) and have therefore blocked their use---If someone had paid for goods by a cheque which then bounced before they had collected the goods they would not be getting the goods.
(Games should be returned to the op)
