Hermes Couriers

The Hermes Website said mine was left in an Outbuilding on Tuesday. They turned up and threw it at the hosue this morning, their couriers just lie and no one seems to care. Customers at this end can't even contact Hermes! Thankfully Amazon have redispatched my item via Royal Mail. At least when they don't lose things they turn up in reasonable condition!
What do you mean they threw it at the house?
There's always going to be bad apples in the bunch unfortunately. And when your being paid so little, would you have the time to be faffing around with overly demanding customers who a) expect you to deliver at a time that suits them, including evenings b) blame you if their out when you try deliver or if their buzzer isn't working or they don't hear the door.
The hermes driver who used to collect our parcels was forever telling me stories about people he'd deliver parcels to, always provided 10 minutes of entertainment whilst he scanned all the collections.
The most commons complaint he received:
*customer phones him* 'why haven't you delivered my parcel?' 'you wasn't in' 'yes I was, why did you know on the door?' 'I did' 'I didnt hear you, so you obviously didnt'.
Seriously, why would a courier go to the efforts of travelling to a customers house just to post a card and have to re-visit the next day?
He also (much to my surprise) received some phone calls which would end up turning nasty as he refused to deliver parcels in evening and on Sundays. These parcels would be instantly returned to sender.
Up until recently I used to send out a few hundred parcels per month with Hermes and have always received great service. The first 6 months of the year damaged = 2; missing=3 (circa). Pretty good stats if you ask me. Having used to use RM standard parcel service in the past the lost/damage rate was ridiculous in comparison (about 2%), although they did deliver quicker.0 -

Parcel status stated 'left in porch' - we searched the garden, the bins, under the car! Not a trace and no card. I can only assume it was left in plain sight and stolen, or left at least 2 doors down since my direct neighbours are happy to keep parcels.
Debenhams re-sent the parcel, luckily I was sat in this time and caught him at the front door
Did you ask him what happened to the first parcel? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

No matter how ill I was, I would have had at least asked what happened, but perhaps that's just me.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

Hermes is so close to herpes - I don't think it's a coincidence.
And you have no idea what you are talking about. Where do you get this impression that the vehicles Hermes's couriers use are not legal or properly insured and how can you be certain that Yodel would be any different. Some Hermes couriers also work for Yodel.
As to your childish accusation of them being "stinky skanks" and the even more peurile comment about herpes, well....all I can see is someone who is either, jealous that they are least working and paying their way in society, or needs to get out more. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
I'd move if I were you QQ.
BTW-I used to have Hermes, but don't worry I was only a carrier.0 -

I don't think it would help, from what I'm reading here they are pretty much universally poor as a carrier and I'm certainly not alone in finding them to be pants.
Additionally I make a point not to use any company that uses Hermes to ship - unless I absolutely have no other choice. Amazon are pretty good and I can avoid Hermes by being careful with my shipping options.
So I don't really have an ongoing issue with them, as I just refuse to use them.0 -

You can lead a horse to water......but they still won't get the joke.

askimid isnt accurate.. it takes upto 14 days for a policy to appear on the midQuackQuack wrote: »Naturally I can understand you are upset having worked (assisted someone who worked) for Hermes yourself - and it may be a company very close to your heart.
However, I've already answered your point about the illegal use of vehicles that are not properly insured or fit for purpose. Tax discs carry dates and we have the wonderful 'askMid' database for checking insurance details.
I cannot help the fact that my local Herpes couriers stink and are skanky. I wish they did not store other people's property in a chain smoking household. I wish they did not walk up peoples driveways with fags in their hands. I wish they were clean and didn't smell and showered more than once a month, but in my area they are all of the above.
That's neither childish or my fault, just a statement of fact, and how it is on the ground in my area. I'm sorry that scares you or you find it offensive. I guess we just have different standards in what we accept as 'reasonable'. I'm glad you took it so well and didn't rant about it.
re the tax disc.. whos to say the car owner has applied over the phone/internet for his disc and is currently waiting for it?Sealed pot challenger # 10
