Are they all liars or is it just in my area?
I arranged a returns collection for "guaranteed" collection yesterday and guess what? Yes, nobody called. I e-mailed them and got a reply this afternoon apologising for not collecting yesterday and saying they had "re-attempted" (how can they "re-attempt" when the original "attempt" was never made, but that's beside the point) collection this morning (Sunday). Nobody has been!
Now, checking on their T&Cs, it seems that there is no contract until the commencement of the "service", which is the collection, so I cannot even cancel (& get a refund) & make alternative arrangements as there is no contract yet to cancel. Surely that must be an "unfair term"?

My delivery 2 days ago was by hermes and it was delivered to the wrong house. Just dumped outside another house, in another road!
A previous time they said they'd called and I was out, yet I had been in all day, and in a room overlooking the front door.
My heart sinks when I see herpes are responsible for getting my goods to me.0 -
My local Hermes 'agent' comes in a beaten up old car (probably without relevant insurance - or even an MOT by the look of it) and usually has a mate in the car smoking. Most of the goods they have delivered to me smell of cigarette smoke. It's grim - especially when it's clothing they are delivering.
I've often had them bang on the door and say "I've got a parcel for three doors down" to which I reply "Well, deliver it to them then - you're the one paid to store and deliver it, not me"
I can't believe that Amazon have started to use them. I must confess that local experience with them is so poor, I think twice before buying from anyone know to use them. A list of major online retailers that use them would make this so much simpler.
Most delivery agents and couriers are pretty good and decent and have excellent standards - but Hermes tend to go against the grain.0 -

I'm glad im not a neiighbour of yours - thats a pretty selfish attitude to have!! Why would you not want to take in a parcel for a neighbour so they can get their goods that day?!0 -
They delivered a parcel for me this week. I was in the kitchen and one of my dogs was asleep in the hall. He never rang the bell or knocked on the door. He just opened the front door and threw the parcel in! The poor dog got such a fright
Courier was away quickly so I never got to say anything to him. Here I go again on my own....0 -

How about because I work evenings and leave for work before they get home, and finish after midnight - or perhaps I should take the evening off do Hermes work for them?
Very funny attitude to your neighbours that you cant do them a favour and take in a parcel!!
If your at work then obviously you cant take in a delivery - but you said they knocked on your door with a neighbours parcel and you would refuse it.
Very strange behaviour.0
