I'm another one who would tell them to sort it out between themselves and let you know when they have decided.0

OP can you go away somewhere nice for xams & leave them to stew on their own?Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0

As far as I can see, it's only the youngest who is behaving childlishly, by refusing to move her time of arrival, so why should the eldest be punished by having her Christmas ruined?
Although I see no indication that the OP also asked the eldest to move times as well, so maybe that could be seen as favouring one over the other. In a situation like this, I guess it's more important than ever to be seen to treat them both the same.0 -

Certainly does seem that way!0 -
If I was OP I'd be inclined to send them Christmas cards with "Peace on earth, and goodwill to men (and women!)" written inside. If both your daughter's don't know that peace and goodwill are an important part of Christmas then perhaps it time to remind them!
If they have fallen out for a good period of time - I'd say give them a shake and tell them that you only want a Christmas with the ideals of 'peace and goodwill' and if they are not interested this year. Then they should have it on their own. OP tell them that you want a true Christmas - where families together. It will a least give them something to think about.
OP consider taking a strong viewpoint on Christmas, unless of course it would mean you would be totally alone.0 -

Lots of people like to be at home for Christmas, why do people keep saying go away!
To remove themselves from the situation?
That way neither daughter can dictate to them.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -

And being unable to tolerate a brother or sister does not mean you find family values too old fashioned.I'm sure the vast majority of people who have had spats with siblings have perfectly normal family values. :wall:
I have already said that as siblings Me and my Sisters do not get on, yet we are ALL proud of our Mother, at least enough for us to grant her a wish of spending Christmas day with her.
Any arguments that we have with each other, we tend not to take it out on our Mother by burdening her with our own problems, or making her choose who to have or rearranging Christmas just for our "Im not going if she is" CHILDISH attitudes.
We leave our issues to one side and concentrate on the wishes of our Mother for that 1 day. The same applied when she got Married, when her Husband passed away and whenever its her Birthday.
We don't have to like each other for the sake of our Mother, it does not mean we would force her to make any rearrangements for our sakes, that would be unfair to her as our Mother, childish and stubborn.
The only one to suffer from such tantrums would be our Mother, certainly not each other, I am sure neither of us would give two hoots if it effected either of us. Upsetting our Mother by getting her involved in our spats would be seen as childish, fruitless and just plain wrong in all of our eyes.
My children when old enough, will be invited for Christmas on Christmas Day, should either of them not wish to attend as a result of some tiff with the other, I will leave it entirely upto them, but I wont be making further rearrangements to suit one over the other.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A
