3 advised of several issues with the 6280 which meant it had to go back for repair if they occurred. Also battery life was not as good as the Sony. Another 3 chap said that the issues were now sorted after 3 sent all their current stock back.

I still chose the 6280 and received it yesterday and am quite pleased with it. I was going to sell it and keep my old 6630 but I may keep it now. I accepted a retention deal which was a downgrade in mins for me - 100mins/100texts per month as that is all I need, with the 6280 for £35 for the entire 12 months. It'll do me.

In the three website (https://www.three.co.uk) you need to go to the shop and select any deal, it will appear underneath the 'next day delivery' banner on the left side of the site.

I believe this is the info:

The new deal applies to both pay as you go and contract customers, and means customers travelling to Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Austria, Italy, Hong Kong, Australia, and the UK can make make use of their bundled minutes and services, including free Skype calls and internet access for X-Series customers.

Once the bundled minutes have been used up, messaging services (SMS and MMS) are charged the same rate as in the UK, while voice calls will be 20 pence a minute. International calls are charged as though the customer is in the UK.

Here's an extract from the Three website, but I've also provided the link to the page as well as its too long to post.

    http://www.three.co.uk/personal/coverage_/going_abroad_/like_home_details.omp

"Now on participating networks – 3 Italy, 3 Sweden, 3 Denmark, 3 Austria, 3 Hong Kong, 3 Australia and 3 Ireland - you can use your inclusive minutes when calling back to the UK. And it's even more affordable as we charge per second when making calls on these networks. Plus you can also use your allowance to make video calls to the UK.

Once you've used your allowance or if you're a Pay As You Go customer, the standard charges for calls or messages back to the UK on these networks are 20p per min for voice calls, 10p per text, 50p per min for video calls, 25p per picture message and 50p per video message."

  • I oreder the three deal but never got it.

Went through Quidco and ordered the Nokia N80 with the direct talker 1000 at £17.50 per month.

    10th Feb - order recieved
11th Feb- Order processed and delivery arranged for 17th Feb
12th Feb - £1.95 taken from my account

No ontact from three until i phoned around the 20th to find out where phone was. Apparently out of stock until 28th so was told to cancel and re-order. Didnt want to do this so said i'll wait until the 28th.

Oh, and quido money has been declined.

Phone call on 27th to ask if i still wanted the phoen and that it'll be dispatched next day. No phone came and still heard nothing from three!

Going to ring tomorrow and find out whats happening.

Fantastic!! Even though I only used the 'promo code' field for my mums recommend a friend number, I still received the money this bill!! That was super fast..

So best of luck to anyone who didn't manage to use the correct link.

    Me too!!!

I took out the Direct Talker 1000 & Quidco is showing £70 rather than the £100 I was expecting. I've logged a query with Quidco that they in turn will submit to 3. I'll keep you informed on the outcome.

I have heard nothing further about this query, even though I emailed Quidco last week again asking what was happening. From their website it appears that Quidco are awaiting a reply/response from 3. It has been nearly a month now. Has anyone else, who has suffered the same mistake, managed to get anywhere with this?

BTW, the refurb? phone is working perfectly as is the 3 network which is very pleasing.

Quidco cash back queries can take many months to resolve. I have only just successfully won and received a £45 query from last August for an AOL contract, and am still awaiting a result on a missing cash back for Green Flag from last September. It seems straight forward that you should get the £100 unless you went for the 500min contract, but you might have to wait a very long time.

If you go to the 'live' chat person on the three website and pretend to ask some questions about buying a phone, they will give you a code for a free bluetooth headset valid for that day only (you can always ask again another day when you want to purchase).

Here's an example of the nokia 6280 (new) on the direct talker 1000 contract

    Nokia 6280 - free
    750 anytime, any network minutes
    150 texts
50 UK Video Minutes anytime, any network
50 UK photo or video messages
    £5 Free downloads

    £35 a month (£17.50 for 15 months - automatically applied)
Free 512mb memory card while stocks last
Free bluetooth headset (with code from 'live chat' assistant)
    £100 cashback with quidco

It works out to about £9 a month.

The great thing about 3 at tis that your inclusive minutes and texts can be used in selected countries (where 3 are operational) for calling or texting the UK. Its perfect for me as I go to Hong Kong quite often. So my minutes and texts can be used when I'm in Hong Kong to call the UK. No roaming charges either.

Before anyone asks, no I don't work for Three.

How does this work out at about £9 a month?

I need to either cancel my three contract very soon and get a new contract or stick with three with one of these offers. However I've only just started looking and am wondering whether I've missed the best deals?

I'm not particularly interested in the phone however would like 400 minutes plus, so I need to spend some time looking but would appreciate recommendations?!

    Thanks
