Good luck with the applications Mallrat and Maktina! Always read about confusion over whether reapplying with LB and ABH works or not so it's encouraging to hear things are going well so far (particularly LB, would like to apply there again myself after my inevitable kicking off from ABH

Hello all! Nice to meet you!
This is the only forum that I see still actively discussing job in ABH. I'm new to this job and need some advice. I hope I can pass the qualification test and get into the production,
but
My concern is, I read some review about this WSE job and almost none of it are a positive review (from indeed and glassdoor). It is true that ABH isn't what I hope to be. Hard to get in and easy to get kicked.
Also can someone explain the scoring system in the FAQ?
Many thanks!0 -

The further away from the correct rating you are, the harsher the penalty. Doesn't take much to land you in trouble, 1 or 2 big errors is enough. I worked with LB few years ago and was pretty surprised when it came to ABH training that they pin you down in the middle ratings, feels like throwing darts - especially when it comes to informational queries.
Hard to get in and easy to get kicked is a good way of putting it. If you are in the UK i'd advise against it. Probably the most challenging it's been in the 2 years i've been here, starting to really hate it now.0 -

Though the job is quite tricky/stressful and possibly getting tougher, it might still be worth a try because you do get to do practice questions and such during training so you can see if it makes sense to you or not.. You may be a lucky one who intuitively gets it easily in which case it'd be worth it.0 -

I'm non UK based, I admit it's challenging and fun because I really interested in browsing stuff. Not sure how the payment system working here but the payment/hour is high enough for my country.Though the job is quite tricky/stressful and possibly getting tougher, it might still be worth a try because you do get to do practice questions and such during training so you can see if it makes sense to you or not.. Back on service level review for the umpteenth time.
Expect I'll get a sacking email this time.
Totally impossible to actually do this job.0 -
I've finally managed to get IE working with crowdsourcing so looks like i'm all set to go for the web assessor role. Is anyone else doing the multimedia judging?
Just wondered how often do they score/assess your work at Appen? I worked for Lionbridge for 9 months last year and got kicked out in the end so i'm not sure how long I will last at Appen or if it's really worth me doing it at all if i'm not going to last too long!
I didn't know you could reapply to Lionbridge so i'm wondering if i should pursue that instead... Though i'm on the multimedia program with Appen so i guess it will be slightly different to what i was doing at Lionbridge.0 -

Sorry to hear this, 271906. Am sure you'll get to do the test again. Not exactly sure how many times you've been removed already, but think it was 5 for me.headcrash27 wrote: »I've finally managed to get IE working with crowdsourcing so looks like i'm all set to go for the web assessor role. Don't think so. Is that the job where you had to do some sort of spoken test? Or yet another new role, maybe?!headcrash27 wrote: »I didn't know you could reapply to Lionbridge so i'm wondering if i should pursue that instead... I wouldn't recommend it. Not if they put you forward for Web Content Judge, anyway.. Was supposed to be starting my exam tomorrow, but have contacted them to ask to be removed from the process. After having spent the last couple of days grappling with the practice data, I realised that the role is basically a nightmare. Think the exam would've taken me about 8 hours to do properly (no time limit), and even then I seriously doubt I would be able to pass it. Currently feeling pretty annoyed that I've wasted the last 3 weeks on a pointless application, and not really sure where to go from here now..0 -

You get assessed daily pretty much, some days are worse than others, Thursday is usually pretty grim for me! I remember at LB in their similar task you'd get around 25-30 scored per month. With ABH you're looking at around 30 a week with instant feedback and anywhere between 0-30 with delayed feedback.Back on service level review for the umpteenth time.
Sorry to hear, looking at the metrics it's nearly a case of last man standing in W5. For some reason they want to audit the roster out of existence, never clicked that damn audit button so much, makes you feel like a garbage rater. Good luck with the SLR!0 -

The role is for Multimedia Web Assessor at 12 hours a week. You get assigned to either image or video. I'll be judging images so it seems simpler than Lionbridge in that aspect as there is probably less room for error. I am in the qualification stage at the moment.
I've decided to give it my best shot and try and stay in the program as long as i can as i could really do with the money.
That Lionbridge role sounds like a nightmare, i'm not really sure what web content judges do as i was a web assessor for Lionbridge.0
