Thanks MallRat. I might wait a couple of weeks, the booklets full of guidelines fill me with dread!

Having spent the weekend studying some, I know the feeling. And especially annoying when it doesn't actually lead to getting any work, as has happened to me twice now..

Why did you decide against taking the test with LB in the end?

Had no confidence in my ability to pass it. Unfortunately the job involves working for the same client as with Appen, but seemed even more difficult than WSE. (Think the most hated task you used to do with LB back in the day, with tonnes of results on each side).

Looks like they've now blocked my account anyway.. Just tried to log in to have a peek at the exam and can't get in any more.

Also, regarding LF is the problem that they recognise your IP? If so, have you tried resetting your wireless router, it often results in the address changing... :)

Yep, know about the IP thing. So more worried about them recognising my name/other details, really. It was either because of that that they ignored my last application, or the fact I admitted to having applied to them previously.. Hopefully the second one, though. Can always be slightly "forgetful" when filling in a form, but can't exactly construct an entirely new identity, really.. :)

I don't understand though why audits against someone else would appear on my DART metrics?

They wouldn't. The audits are actually calculated from Monday to the following Thursday, so longer than a week, and therefore different to what you see for the week in your report. If you had 9 in the week, the others would have been from the week before to make the 15.

Really sorry you have been terminated.

    Ahh okay, I see.

If I don't hear the word 'metric' again it'll be 10 years too soon :D
  • Hi guys! Please if anyone can help me out I would be greatly thankful to them.
I've filled up for Web Search Evaluator and got my account but it has been more than 4 weeks I haven't received any project. I tried contacting them, no reply either. I completed all the spelling tests those were available.

Please help me out. This is the following message I'm getting :-

"You are not assigned to any active projects at this time. A supervisor will contact you via email when a suitable project becomes available. Please ensure that you have attempted the spelling test for any language you are fluent in at the Qualifications tab, and that your details are up to date at the Account tab."

    Hello,

I just applied to Appen, and I received emails for NDA, etc. I filled all those out.

For now, I just want to do crowdsourcing. But when I went to the Appen site and clicked returning applicants, a box showed up with a message that I didn't release my profile to prospective clients.

I think I remember that during the application process I said I didn't want to that - I just wanted crowdsourcing. Maybe I'm wrong.

Do I have to release my profile to work crowdsourcing?

If not, how do I know if I can start to do crowdsourcing?

I appreciate any help given. Thank you.

Failed two times on the qualification test because of... luck problem, only fail in one Rating Threehold. I even know how to count the score and tough luck if you already known you have failed before the result is come out.
Some of the answer is clearly wrong, I try to appeal it on the 2nd one but I don't think it will get through.

Anyone know if I can get another try in the future?

@ Kapil you pretty much have to wait for them to get in contact with you, if you're in the UK I imagine that would be soon as the roster is ridiculously empty atm

@ newtowse AFAIK Appen Butler-Hill aren't as open to reapplications as Lionbridge or Leapforce, TBH since you didn't get through the exam I would recommend applying to one of the other companies before trying again at ABH because working with these guys involves doing those same type of test questions every day, forever.

Judging by the latest metrics my roster has a record low of people actually rating this week . Haven't seen any new names for some time, wonder what's going on? Everyone seems to be constantly buried by audits lately. Yet other markets don't seem to have a situation like this. I find it hard to believe that we're all just bad at the job..
  • It's painfully difficult lately. Think it was the week before last where for 3 straight days i had nothing but sets of 2 - top result from both sides for some of the most obscure/foreign/technical queries i've seen, probably 80% priorities.. absolute hell.

My audits last week were for some reason empty, until an unusual friday avalanche, which by being beyond the metric timeframe actually nearly screwed me over. I'm not sure what i'd take, 10 audits in total or 30+ with half wrong, likely to miss 2/3 of the related metrics either way. You can only give yourself a chance by keeping the RTAs in check right now.

Tired of feeling only a week away from trouble, realised there's nothing i can do about it unless i want it to consume my entire day. Wish I was that one guy/machine who never gets anything wrong!

I just had some come through against me that must have been pretty ancient, too. Annoying stuff, and yeah, I'd like to know that person's secret too. More power to him/her, this is a nice job if you somehow manage to agree with the auditors all the time.

TBH at this point I don't find spending all day on this helps much, I'd rather just do the work as well as I reasonably can in close to the time I'm actually paid for and not worry so much about termination since I've accepted it as inevitable anyway.

He/she is made of steel! How you can get around 30/40 audits correct, avoiding all the BS like toss up discussion pages from a certain Q/A site is beyond me. I've tried to slow down and concentrate more this week but still getting 50% back. If that's who i'm audited against most of the time then i should give up now :rotfl:

Made the worst possible RTA mistake this week too, gonna haunt me for 2 weeks so sweating it on the audit metrics.
