Just a quick question for the web evaluators do you use the same platform for this work as crowdsourcing, i.e. UHRS?

I've been accepted for the web evaluator training which starts next week but if it uses UHRS I won't be able to access it so I don't want to waste my time doing all the training if i'm not going to be able to do the work.

I signed up for crowdsourcing months ago and despite emailing their tech support i've never been able to get UHRS to run in Internet Explorer, I can't get past the first log in.

It uses the same platform, but you access it via a toolbar that they give you to download. Only when I was doing the job, it wasn't compatible with IE11, so after the update from IE10 I was forced to wind back. Am sure someone will comment if anything has changed, though.. :)

Not sure why you're unable to get in to UHRS at the moment, but I'd guess that you're trying to log in the wrong way. It's pretty easy to select the wrong option, so I'd maybe have another look.

Hmm maybe I should give it a miss then... I guess there's no guarantee the toolbar will work. Is it something I could try out during the training or do they not give you access to it until you've passed all the tests?

I've never been able to log in to UHRS on IE. I've never been able to do any work for them as a result. I know my login details work as I can log in using chrome but obviously I can't do the work in chrome. I tried everything I could to fix the problem but to no avail and Appen's technical support are pretty hopeless.

Well it appears I am back in the qualification process? Seems no one has stopped me so far.

I think you'll need to download it in order to take the exam. So, up to you whether you want to give it a try, really. :)

I can log in fine in IE. Just a matter of going to a URL, clicking Sign in with LiveID, and then entering username and password. Was probably getting confused with the toolbar before, as signing into that could be slightly more complicated.. :) I can also get into the crowdsourcing platform via Firefox, only I can't actually do any work that way, as when you press the "Start judging" button nothing happens.

    Good luck. :D

Am currently back in the testing process with LB. The work isn't for the same client as when as I worked for them previously, and not sure whether I'll be able to get a decent number of hours if I manage to pass, but it's good news all the same, I suppose.

Yes the toolbar still doesn't work with IE11 - which is annoying as Windows keeps insisting on trying to update

Good luck Maktina! I imagine that if they haven't stopped you by now, you might be okay.

Keep us updated MallRat! I won't be able to continue at Appen past September due to other commitments (Will be sacked long before then I imagine though!), so will be needing to find something which doesn't have the hours commitment. Did you email asking if you could reapply, or just apply anyway? Hoping they'll let me apply despite having worked for them until July last year..

I used the contact form on their website to ask, and they responded by sending me details about the Web Content Judge role with an application link. So, not sure if that's the only position ex-workers are eligible for, or whether they're just needing a load of people to do that particular job right now..

Urgh, not good. This new role definitely uses UHRS, but not sure about the toolbar yet.. Am assuming that if I updated to IE11, UHRS on it's own would still work OK though?!
  • I am apply to Appen after getting an email to apply for crowd sourcing, but having trouble with the application wizard. Keeps giving me error message to fill in all with * on questionnaire - scope of service. On this page, the only thing not filled out is permit to work or visa, however I am a US native born citizen and have marked that. I also put my windows live ID in, anne.king@appen.com. What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks
