    Hi :)

I typically make $350-$500 per payment schedule...I work full time elsewhere so this is just as and when no real set hours.....

I previously worked for LB...much much much prefer the crowdsourcing tho...minimal stress, no set minimum hours and no targets to reach etc...if you can get your head round the qualification tests keep your spams low it is possible to make decent money....stick with it :)

Thanks for the response. Really failing to understand how others are able to make so much. Have been trying to do this full time for a solid two months now, so not sure "sticking with it" is really going to get me anywhere.. Made a total of $110 in the last period, which converting at around £65 is hardly going to pay the bills. Also attempted to do it full time for most of May 2013 before getting the WSE job, and ended up with $57, according to my records..

Really need to find an alternative that can offer me at least 10 hours per week paying a decent rate, I think. On the plus side, I contacted LB last night regarding the various job roles and their policies regarding ex-Internet Assessors, and they seem to have replied with an offer to apply for the Content Judge position, which sounds like their version of crowdsourcing. Seeing as the website says it's for a minimum of 10 hours depending on availability, it looks like I now need to try doing a bit of research to find out what it's all about..

I find the level of work with Crowdsourcing varies a lot. I earn similar figures to you MallRat. It really is unpredictable. I don't think you're missing anything with the adult tasks...they pay a pittance and I don't bother with them.

Oh thats good MallRat :) good luck.... as far as I remember the Content Judge post was very similar to web evaluator...it wasnt crowdsourcing but that may have changed they used to do the crowdscourcing as separate, paid per hit exactly the same as Appen with no minimum hours, so sounds like theyve changed it all....best of luck x

I can see how it stacks up, you seem to be doing well :D I think the GBP rate is low though, especially for some of the content you have to see. I also have a paranoia about visiting dodgy sites, whether that is recorded in my history and viruses etc....have you ever had any problems?

Thanks. Was beginning to think it was just me. Did manage to qualify for the French language adult task, but can't be doing with cutting and pasting walls of text into a translator just to earn 1ct per hit, either. And that's without mentioning having to potentially look at dodgy content that might need reporting, as you say. Vast majority of the money I DO make comes from the text-based adult one that doesn't appear very often, along with the general image task. Luckily, I managed to catch a load of those this morning, so having made about $12 doing that, today has actually been a rare "good" day. :)

"Crowdsourcing" is definitely mentioned under the description on the main jobs page. It also says something about it being a worldwide program, which suggests to me that I might not end up working with UK results, a la ABH crowdsourcing. Unfortunately, Google doesn't seem to be throwing up much additional info, apart from a thread on here that I posted on myself. Actually forgot that this was the very role I tried applying for last year, only to get an instant rejection.. :D

Hello everybody. I've been working as a WSE for a few months now and like many people here I don't really have many positive things to say about this whole experience. While I've been able to put most of my issues with this company behind until now, I feel like this time they've gone a bit too far.

I missed my chance to get back into production after failing the test thanks to a wrongly rated example in the set. That's right, I'm 100% it was a mistake since the description in the comment didn't even match what the site provided. I appealed and pointed out the error, but they either ignored my appeal or failed to see what was wrong with the example...

Needless to say, I'm enraged about this whole thing. I really want to quit right now, but I fear I might not find another good source of income online. I've been considering applying for LB, but I don't know if they hire people who have previously worked for other companies.

Same for me. The steady pay makes me not want to quit prematurely, but much of the time I can only keep up a high RPH and rate accurately for fairly short chunks so it can take considerably over 4 hours a day. The audits can seem like such a toss-up and it feels like my work is a constant test (not an easy one either).

Right now I'm still doing OK but seriously weighing up my options for life after ABH. Leapforce is looking like a decent option. Similar pay, and scanty minimum requirement leaves lots of flexibility for doing my other types of work on the side... They take people from other companies AFAIK and they also rehire people who get fired after 6 months or a year or something like that.
Trouble is you can't apply while keeping your job for ABH (or at least, you could, but at risk of being sniffed out and barred) so it's a leap in the dark! :wall:

Really useful post - thank you :)

    I feel exactly the same.

I think it is impossible to meet the RPH requirement and provide the quality they want. Like you, I feel it's one big constant test and it does make the job incredibly stressful.

I am also considering my options. I just find Appen incredibly inflexible and inconsistent. I'm convinced the individual doing the Audits changes frequently, as there are in my view many inconsistencies in this area. I also find the 4 hour per day requirement really hard to meet at times, and as far as I am aware Appen are the only company who have this requirement - I understand it is good in a way, as the hours are guaranteed, however, I've been on SLR so much that it doesn't actually seem worth it any longer.

I just *wish* this work would work out for us all. I don't believe anyone in this thread is incapable of doing the work to a high standard, but yet it seems we've all had experiences of being treated in a far less acceptable manner than we deserve. I agree the audits are a toss-up - some weeks I do wonderfully, and then the next I can do terribly. There is no way my quality of work is so variable.

I hope everyone here manages to find work and a reliable income :)

It certainly seems to be a feeling many of us raters share. Agreed about the auditors changing. We can't know for sure but I get a feeling for the different things that auditors consider important about a page. Or maybe it's just a couple of guys who have different moods! It leads to easy weeks (too few!) where you feel like the stars are aligned and you agree with the RTAs, and tough weeks where you start to second guess yourself. And then sometimes audits come and bury you out of nowhere.

I get that ABH keep their contract going by providing high quality. I also know that there are raters who apparently 'get' the job somehow and make the metrics every week with ease. For them this is hands down the best rating company to work for!

For the rest of us though it is apparent that while we do care about the job, appreciate the benefits of steady work and want to do well (just passing the entrance exams takes some determination), somehow the learning curve (confusion curve?) never seems to ease up. To me, it doesn't feel like I can just sit down and DO the job.

Well, I've procrastinated long enough, time to finish off the week's hours..
