Ryanair ---- Now Too Much Hassle?

It is NOT within your remit to invite people with children to jump the queue in front of me.........the only time you are entitled to let anybody jump the queue in front of you is when you are LAST in the queue.2sides2everystory wrote: »Then part of your humble opinion may not be based on enough experience of the real deal, Mr MeanExpat.
If you travelled Ryanair regularly, you might be surprised how many actually pay for priority boarding on the busy flights e.g. the summer holiday flights and national holiday weekend flights. And those are the flights most likely to include a lot of children.
When I see families who could obviously do with priority boarding I ALWAYS consider whether I am in a position to help them, which on occasion means yes I have been the one to invite such a family to jump the queue. And I have two or three times offered to move seats once inside in order that a family could sit together. Not many do that of course, as most Ryanair passengers behave like frightened sheep until they are safely in a seat on board.
Nevertheless I assume you practice all the swashbuckling you preach to those who are already converted, MeanExpat?
Incidentally - where are you on the scale of contented<-->peed off with Ryanair over their introduction of their most recent hassle factors?Political?....I dont do Political....well,not much!0 -
2sides wrote: "I have frequently watched young families plead at the gate and be shown the back of the queue"
Have you really? Have you ever considered letting them jump the queue? Or are you as bad as Ryan Air? And stick with their rules?
Very few people pay for priority boarding. After those have boarded, then it is up to the rest of us to be kind to families with young children.
In my humble opinion.
NO!!! it's natural selection, only the strong must survive, small children should travel in the hold.0 -
I was at an airport recently where there was a Wizzair board which showed left for priority boarding and passengers with young children, and right for other passengers. How civilised I thought, as the similar Ryanair board does not give priority to those with children. Let's have a little human decency please! In my experience priority boarders are businessmen in their 30s to 50s, probably with the least need to board first.0

Food for thought:
I've just done a comparison exercise in flight prices, and discovered that flying from LGW to Venice (with BA or EasyJet), or STN to Treviso (with Ryanair), o/b Aug 6th, i/b Aug 21st, prices (with one checked bag where appropriate, plus all taxes and additional charges) are as follows:British Airways £230.20How about that then? I wonder what Mr O'Leary would have to say!
Ryanair £336.10
EasyJet £187.30
Try comparing Cork to Carcassonne or Bristol to Beziers next July and
see where it gets you, or Rodez to Dublin. So many routes that connect
people around Europe that only St Michael flys between.0 -
If I remember correctly RA used to give free priority boarding to the kids but this was ruined by the families themselves.
What would happen was that granny or one of the family would stand at the front of the queue while the rest of them would be nowhere to be seen.
As soon as the RA staff appeared ready to start the boarding procedure, the whole of the family would gatecrash to join granny at the front of the queue saying they had "children" (brats) with them and were allowed to go in front of others who didn`t have kids.
Fair enough to give priority to children ie: 1 adult 1 child, but not granny, grandpa uncles, aunts etc.
So now if you want priority boarding Mr O` makes you pay.
The families only have themselves to blame.0 -
I agree - Bob is High Master and I would not suppose even deputy status in his absence - far too dangerousBob_the_Saver wrote: »Hang on you lot, High Master User of Ryan Air is MY title!!!!
I agree, but in the name of civility/humanity I have sometimes dared to do it nevertheless whereas MeanExpat gets on last anyway so may not ever have struggled with the same dilemmaantenna wrote:It is NOT within your remit to invite people with children to jump the queue in front of me.........the only time you are entitled to let anybody jump the queue in front of you is when you are LAST in the queue.
So then, two months in, who amongst we apprentice masters has weakened and got the Cash Passport ?
I am flying next week using a single Ryanair UK departure which I booked using Mastercard Prepaid through the Italian part of ryanair.com on 3rd November (no admin fee at that time because the IT part was in disarray!). All my future regular return flights are now booked the other way round so that UK is the apparent destination not the departure point

Surprisingly enough I agree with 2sides... I won't get the wretched new card and do apply the same tactics.
I get on board last also because I can't see the advantage of standing in a queue when I can sit down and read. But don't tell anyone, they might think it's a good idea.0 -

I reckon it's a waste of money since everyone is allocated a seat anyway.0 -

Of course it`s a waste of money but the way it`s worded, and not just with RA, it could be interpreted that a family could be scattered all over the cabin and not seated together if they don`t pre-book their seats.0 -

MSE - well?? You do realise it is currently impossible to buy any flight from Ryanair simply for a fare of £9.99 ? It will cost at least £15.99.
