I am a huge advocate of Ryanair, but I have to admit, I stopped using them so much when they started showing only one day for prices and then made it difficult to see the next.
In stopping using Ryanair I have used Jet2, Easyjet and Wizz air all on routes that previously I used Ryanair for and never thought to look elsewhere.

Ryanair has certainly lost a substantial amount of custom from myself as I have found alternative routes/airlines because I just cannot be arsed with the hassle to check fares.

MSE - well?? You do realise it is currently impossible to buy any flight from Ryanair simply for a fare of £9.99 ? It will cost at least £15.99.

Here are my flight details for a deal that they quoted £12.99. Looks like I am the 2nd side to your story!

In what respects harsh and in what respects a step too far?

It could be said that Ryanair has saved consumers millions of pounds, but does that absolve them from the not so pretty stuff we complain about?

It looks to me like MSE is currently acting as Ryanair's agent (paid or unpaid) in promoting an incorrect price which looks like a misleading action under CPR Regulation 5 to me.

Is that not so or have I interpreted CPRs incorrectly?

I bet your one of those people that sits through a programme on TV that you find highly offensive just so you can complain about it.

It's easier to just switch over.

  • jayok, care to explain what you just published? I am sure this story is many-faceted. It looks in your case like they are saying you have paid two separate amounts? What was the £6 - the card fee outbound ??

Mr Wang, Ryanair is not a tv channel. However, it does enjoy massive UK taxpayer subsidies in terms of tax-free aviation fuel and it also enjoys a monopoly on a large number of its routes.

But perhaps you are simply a betting man and not so much of a consumer who cares enough to be bothered about major corporates taking the mickey?

It is a return flight from Edinburgh to Dublin, I paid £12.99 for each leg (as advertised) making a total of £25.98. I used the £6 voucher for paying the fee to get the Ryanair Passport card and the rest with the card.
  • Ah right ... and you bought the flights when? Not during the current promotion period did you? And you also haven't reminded everyone that you actually had to pay Ryanair Cash Passport £156 to get their card. (Well done for getting one successfully by the way).

    Who cares???

I rarely bet, I just appreciate things for what they are and what they offer.

    Cheers O Leary ;)

    Clearly you don't.

And what is this thing Ryanair in your book, exactly? What does it offer fairly and what does it take unfairly?

Does it habitually operate within the law with its price promotion? Oh sorry, I almost forgot: you don't care.

So why exactly are you here, posting on a consumerist website? We know you do not care about your fellow consumers who might be mislead by incorrect price promotions. Are you just contrary or are you an edgy corporate marketeer of some kind?

It was booked about 2 weeks ago. For me, Ryanair works as my folks and my wifes folks are in Dublin and for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children) I save £48 each time we go to Dublin for a visit and generally for the price advertised. I also book for my relatives to travel to Scotland.

One might ask the same question of you, ie why are you posting on this website when you clearly take the view as follows:

"And because dopey websites like MSE are as guilty of misleading consumers as Ryanair when they post dumb headlines under today's email and latest tips like:

    TipPlane.gifCHEAP FLIGHT SALES ALERT:
Airline: Ryanair Price: £9.99 Ends: Tues 3 Jan

Must be the deal they've done to keep the MSE Flightchecker stocked with Ryanair flight prices ... have MSE no shame?
