  • Hi All

Received the attached letter through the post this morning. Presume I should just ignore it, or failing that respond with the suggested wording from give them FA?

Has anyone actually followed through with the ignoring route recently? A lot of threads seem to be from a few years ago, and nobody seems to confirm if ignoring has actually worked or to what level it got to first.

    Copy of letter:

I don't know what you've been reading, but there are very many recent threads on here that deal with this question and everyone says "ignore".
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

Thanks. I agree there are many threads that say "ignore", but I have not yet seen one that says "I ignored and it's all gone away". Just wanted to double, treble check etc.

  • Yes, my alternatives were "ignore" or have fun by striking back and taking charge.

Certainly ignore is the easier option; hitting back is more fun, but only if, like me, you have absolutely no qualms about sticking the middle finger up to their bullsh*t. I have personally seen off about 30 tickets with "ignore" and another 45 with "attack mode".. Use either Jack but if you are not too confident, use ignore and then come back and tell us when the letters cease and they give up. If you DO decide to write, be careful not to let them have any inkling as to who was driving the car. That leaves them completely helpless.

    Jack,

Mrs theHibby is feeling lonely because nothing has happened since she ignored Parking Spy's "Final Notice". Relax.

I see from your link that the cheeky {censored}s have stated that you have to send an SAE if you want to appeal. Never noticed just how low life they were before.

I also notice that they use our favourite word of advice in capitals at the top. :-)

Why bother coming back to report on there being no news to report?

Once it appears they've given up, people have either forgotten or are wisely reluctant to bump a thread to the top about their case.

I received a "PCN" whilst parking in a well known German supermarket's car park. Had numerous long discussions, via letter, with the CE of both the supermarket and parking management company. Basically told them both to go swivel.
Parking company sent many letters threatening civil action, stating that each letter had cost an additional £85 to my intial fine. I wrote back on each occasion, telling them that my replies were being charged out at £110 and I'd see them in court.

Next they telephoned, with the usual rhetoric of threats of court action. Told them that I would report them to the police under the Telecommunications Act for using threatening behaviour over the phone.

Final stage was a visit by a "bailiff" demanding an inflated sum of money. Asked him for some identification and a copy of the court order, as I seemed have missed the court proceedings. Told him to close close the gate behind him, before I called the police and reported him for intimidation/harrassment.

Wrote to CE and Chairman of supermarket explaining sequence of events. Next visit to same supermarket, different parking management company.
  • Important thing is never to tell them who was driving the car, as the contract is between the driver and land owner or his agents. Neither are you under any obligation to reveal the driver's identity. Just tell them several people have lawful access to the vehicle and that you are unable to confirm the driver's indentity, on the day in question.

Or tell them that to the best of your knowledge the driver was Mr D Cameron of number 10, SW1A 2AA or Mrs E Windsor of number 1, SW1A 1AA ;)

I have received what I hope will be the final letter in the chain, the 'reduced payment offer' to avoid going to court. It shall be ignored. I don't expect to receive anymore letters as the pattern seems to be they leave you alone after this one if you have made no previous contact but will let you know if I do ;)
