neighbour issues

I really cannot believe what I am reading here! We have one person here, with a severely disabled daughter, who has reported that her neighbour "lost it" with the bus driver this morning, another person who now has to manage to get a severely handicapped child plus a baby to a pick-up point which has been changed because of complaints by neighbours - and posters on here make excuses for the complainants?? Whatever happened to compassion? To caring for those less-able than oneself?
Selfish, selfish people ....would they like the disabled to disappear - or just not to live in their world?0 -
I think the bus should find somewhere more appropriate to park instead of blocking her drive it doesn't seem very fair to me.
Why does the child have less rights to be picked up outside her house, than the adult to drive to theirs? Surely in a case like this, both have the rights and only one is acting like an idiot. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

sadly, there are many people who just don't understand how difficult it is for people with/caring for people with disabilities.0 -
You'd be amazed at the attitudes some people have to very sick and disabled children. I posted a poll a few years ago about terminally ill children and severely disabled children getting priority passes at places like Eurodisney, Legoland, etc, and a very large number of people disagreed profoundly with this, and said they would be rude or abusive to those children if they saw them using these while they were in the queue

Did you read the comments some people posted though? My recollection is that a lot more people than 5 were quite vocally opposed to it on the actual thread.0

I think the point is whilst no one has problems with extra help to enable those less able bodied to lead their lives some consideration should be given to the impact those allowances have on others, a little courtesy of forewarning when they moved in or since bus started pick up to all those in the cul de sac not only the woman in post would have gone a long way in preventing the neighbours stress levels boiling over.
Respect works both ways, and is a good life lesson for any parent to teach their child in being considerate of the impact on others day to day lives. As it stands the op is expecting a virtual stranger to make allowances to fit in with their needs with out regards to that of the neighbour.I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0 -

Courtesy of fore-warning???
You think we should write a letter asking if it's ok if we move in with a disabled child?

No - it is not the parent of the disabled child/ren who are "inconveniencing" their neighbours - people are being asked to just give a few minutes of their day to make life easier for those parents who have disabled children 24/7. Is that really too much to ask of people? Respect the job that these parents/carers do? Is that really too much to ask - let alone expect?
If so, we really do deserve all that we get
To quote John Donne :-
....No man is an island, entire of itself...any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee."...............0
