neighbour issues

  • If this is the first time this has been an issue then maybe the woman was returning home after a bad shift at work and was feeling stressed or upset about something and chose (wrongly) to vent at the bus driver.

It may never happen again. Worry about it if and when it does happen again. We all have bad days when we are less patient than at other times; this may simply be one of those days.

It's the responsibility of the driver to park the bus without obstructing other road users. It is an offence to drive on a pavement, so the neighbour is quite right to refuse that way of accessing her drive, preferring to wait until he had removed the obstruction by reversing.

Hopefully the driver is now aware of the need to park the bus lawfully. He was in the wrong. You would be wise not to get involved.

It's not an offense to block access to a driveway unless it is marked with a local authority white line marking. It is not always an offense to drive on a pavement. The bus was stopped not parked.Apart from that your post was fine.

I disagree with a lot of posts here. I do shifts and when I'm getting home, i hate it when someones blocking the road, binmen etc! For those that don't work nights, its hard to explain how it feels at the end of a shift. I just want to get to bed, i'm exhausted and I imagine this is how this lady feels.
I appreciate OP has a disabled child but there needs to be a compromise that doesnt include blocking the ladys path to get home after a night shift.
  • but it's only occasionally if the times cross, from the OP, it isn't a daily event.

section 243 appears the to be the section applicable which the driver of bus should be aware of. Not looking good for drive as if cul de sac and you are second house in may be too near to junction as well as causing obstruction under that section,

section 243 - driver may well be breaking 2 points under that - just to clarify it if highway code says MUST NOT means illegal.
