Is Sky Broadband any good as I am a Sky Subscriber and with Orange was Wanadoo my contract with them has now run out so I thought that I might go for the cheaper £5 Sky option. Let me know what you think of Sky Broadband
Thanks0 -
Before deciding if you should go for Sky Broadband, check if it is available at your telephone exchange. Use this link and enter your phone no. and check it out.0

Have checked thanks yes it is available0

A friend of mine has it and he rates it ok. He gets an 8mb connection. Also point to note that the cheap package has a limited amount of download usage, so check to see which is best for you first.
I have nothing better to do!!!!

Hi, also had freeserve / wanadoo /orange changed to Sky BB we had a few teething problems at first with Sky, but all is fine now.
We can still receive emails through Outllook, from our existing email address,
(xxxx@freeserve.co.uk) but cant send out because apparantly sky don't have an outgoing smtp server, other then that, its all good!0 -
Have you tried smtp.sky.com?
It may need authenticationBut the banks are made of marble,

Yes, it worked for about a week, an then suddenly stopped!0

I changed to Sky Broadband yesterday and so far so good. The only downside was I lost my connection with Tiscali on Friday and my line went live with Sky the same day. The Sky router didn't arrive until Tuesday so I was without broadband for 5 days as the router is dedicated to Sky and my own router wouldn't work.
Still...you can't grumble for a fiver a month plus your TV package.
Regarding emails in Outlook - mine are fine. I use a Yahoo account and my old Tiscali account in Outlook with no problem sending or receiving. I'm not going to use the Sky email because you have to be connected to the Sky broadband network to send/receive in Outlook I'm told. That's no use to me when I take my laptop out and use other connections.0 -
I have been with Sky on the 8mb for about four weeks now and I must say that it is excellent..........blink your eyes and the page has turned. My only problem has been that I cant get Java games to work.....it keeps telling me that I do not have Java installed (which I do) and wont work, now I do not know if this is a problem with Sky as my ISP or if I am missing something on my free twelve months McAfee with it or perhaps I am just a silly old git :rotfl:0
