EDF Online Saver Version 7
Comments
-
Hi,
I too am a online saver version 7 customer and have received the letter also .....and offering a transfer to Price Protection 2014.
According to the Version 7 T&Cs (link : http://www.edfenergy.com/products-services/for-your-home/documents/product-terms/online-saver-v7.pdf)
If you decide to change supplier before31 December 2011, you may be charged an£30 for gas (£60 for Dual Fuel Customers).
Early Termination Fee of £30 for electricity, and
so i'll be waiting to change. To be fair I have been unimpressed with EDF....they took over 5 months to set-up my account and take on my supply so I'm quite happy to move.0 -

Me too, not very happy with them.0 -

No early termination fee because you are not changing supplier, you are staying with the same supplier only changing tariff. (only if you are interested in the EDF fixed tariffs I should add)0 -
Does anybody know if I switched to EDF fixed to 2013, would my new tariff start when my old one ends 31/12/11? Or will they try to switch earlier so I am paying more?moomoominx wrote: »Hi there i had the same question and the answer is no - you would go straight onto the new tarrif -
I rang up tonight to check about this and get some prices, and enquired about changing to PP2013 which works out at the same price as standard tariff for me plus a £50 welcome bonus.
And PP2014 would work out at about £40 a year more for me than standard plus a £75 welcome bonus.
Considerably more than OS7 but we have been spoilt a bit with this tariff, not that it is an excuse for diabolical customer service
I made it quite clear that if I rang up next week to change to PP2013 I would not want this change to happen until 31st December.
I was assured that this would be the case and all I would need to do on December 31st would be to provide meter readings.
So who wants to try this and risk it then0 -
Just a warning that I have had a nightmare with EDF this year; they failed to bill me despite a direct debit being set up and didn't notice until I told them no money was being taken. Just trying to speak to someone about this has taken - literally - hours because their telephone systems always seem to be "experiencing a high volume of calls". The woman I spoke to promised to call me back and put a bill in the post - neither of these things had happened and the next time I called them they had no record of the conversation I had with her. The same is true of the last two times I called.
Given that I want to pay them money you would think they might be slightly more cooperative! I know none of the companies are known for their excellent customer service but I will be moving energy providers as soon as possible.0 -
My experience of EDF was, my first bills took about 3-4 months to arrive, they were both on the wrong tariff.
I rang them up and was put onto the correct tariff and new bills sent out. Was all done very quickly.
The only problem I have had is not being set up with an online account, but I still get paper bills, which I am ok with.
Since then I haven't really had reason to contact them, I get bills every quarter that are estimates, which I then ring up to give meter readings to get them as actual bills.0 -
I've not had too many problems with EDF bar for not being able to sign up Online.
The quandry I've got now is what to switch to, as I too am coming to the end of Online Save 7. I'm either going to go onto Fix 2014 or NPower Go Fix 8. The NPower one works out over £100 a year cheaper and I get the advantage of having a £100 love to shop voucher as well if you go via USwitch.
The problem though is it's NPower and I'm not sure if I trust them. I hear too many bad things about them.0 -

same here the 2 cheapest are scottish power and npower however when u look at both of them they have worst records for complaints.. im on a b/gas standard for both as just moved house...... dont know whether to stick with b/gas c/service seem ok0 -
At first it is, but you would imagine that as energy costs continue to rise what you are over paying now, you make back when the non fixed tarrifs go up each year.
It's a gamble whatever you do, if you don't fix and the price rockets you are stuffed, if you fix and the price drops your stuffed.
What you can do is ask to go onto a capped energy plan. It means you set a capped price to pay and it wont go above however it can come down if the prices do fall.0 -

Have you got any links to these deals, sounds too good to be true to me.
What is the energy company getting out of it if they let you limit the price your supply can increase to, but also let you take advantage of any price falls?0
