EDF Online Saver Version 7

Have been monitoring these posts to decide what to do after 31 Dec. Like others - first five months awful, but now having an integrated account number, the online service (and quite prompt responses to phone enquiries) has settled down and I have agreed a reasonable direct debit schedule (they are quite amenable to changes). Decided to transfer to Price Protection 13 yesterday. Logged in via Quidco (that noted I went to EDF via them but nothing else is documented) did online transfer. Account immediately noted that I was on the new tariff from that day.
A couple of other things to check on your online account. Initiating the new account seemed to generate a pair of (estimated) new meter readings dated the same day. Of course they will try to do that so you pay the increased tariff immediately. So you must give them some figures! I tried to enter corrrected ones online and on auto phone lines but they weren't accepted. Had to phone advisor to get correct ones entered - thought that would be wise. Also noted that the new account details had raised my direct debit cost. Again had to phone advisor for assurance that DD wouldnt increase without notification and agreement.
So jump as late as possible, online switching for existing customers is instant. Check your online account pages thoroughly. Hope the £50 credit you will get in 6 weeks will compensate for being locked into the higher tariff?0 -
Could i have gone thro Quidco or TCB to get cashback for a switch internal to edf? Drat !
I thought that only worked if you changed companies.0 -
Cashbacks will be for new customers only, not tariff switchers. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

How long would it take for a new supplier to contact EDF after i initiate a switch?
Would it be within 15 days? As this is how long EDF say they would need new supplier to make contact for me to stay on V7 until actual switch.
Or on the other hand, if i initiated switch tomorrow, when would it be best to cal EDF to tell them i want to switch?
Hope this all makes sense.0 -

According to Scottish Power the system contacts the old supplier on the 15th day after switch. This is automated apparently.
This means that those who want to stay on E7 for as long as possible can switch on 30th and contact EDF the same day (if you can get through that is). EDF will get notice from new supplier on 14th. This is still within the 15 working days that EDF allow for you to stay on E7. Might be cutting it a bit fine though.0 -
I've just this minute told them I'm leaving. To start with the guy said I was wrong and the tariff would go up after this month but then he checked with a supervisor and said I was right. So you do have to argue a bit so when he asked why I was leaving that was one good reason! He said I now have 60 days to leave but I should be gone long before then. I see I am £306 in credit too, so plenty to see me through.0

I've just informed EDF that I was moving to npower. The operator seemed resigned to the fact that lots of people are leaving them and agreed to freeze OSv7 till npower switch me over:)0

What npower tariff are you moving to? Did you get any cashback for switching?
I'm switching to npower Go Fix 8.
I looked on the comparison sites and they said npower Go Fix 8 would be £43 more expensive over the year than OSv7, but I will receive £93 via topcashback.
The cashback has already tracked.0
