EDF Online Saver Version 7

I'm still undecided. I can save by switching, but not a massive amount, only in double figures. Cost is important, but not crucial to me (kids left home and mortagage finished ) so customer service is a large factor in all my supplier decisions.
It may come as a huge suurprise to many, but I have been with BG, Npower, scottish & southern and EDF, I can say that EDF have been by far the best for CS.
Bottom of the poll, photo finish, but npower were particularly good at being appalling.0 -
Just an update on 'freezing' the online saver 7 tariff. I received a call from the very helpful EDF rep a couple of days ago to inform me that whilst it was possible to freeze the online saver tariff it was only possible to do so until Dec 31st when the tariff effectively expired. He'd initially thought like many on here that it did seem possible (if not a little odd) that EDF were allowing us to freeze the tariff, however it has since transpired that it only worked until Dec 31st, after that we are switched to their standard tariff.
I'm assuming not everyone who has requested this freeze will have received a similar call?0 -

Are you going to call back and query it with a different adviser?0 -
Be careful everyone of changing to a fixed tariff just now. I heard today that prices are rumoured to come down starting with British Gas and the others surely following. No wonder EDF are trying to get everyone to change to their fixed price tariff.0

I haven't had such a call and was assured on the 21st December that the tariff would be frozen until I left. I will be very upset if they now change their minds.
I got told the very same thing when I rang on the 10th December and even questioned it 3 times just to make sure.
They had better not back out... I dont give up easily
I would assume I am still on OS7 prices looking my account details... its the weekend and it works
Fuel type - Electricity & Gas
Contract end date - 15/01/2012 & 15/01/2012

anyway only 10 days to go :j and I will find out0 -
I have to say I had my doubts about this post-tariff price freeze offer when it was first raised. If it sounds to good to be true, then it probably is!No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Just heard edf are reducing prices by 5% in February.
Looks like I messed up getting the pp2013. Is there any way I can change tariff early without being charged or losing bonuses?0 -

Depends when you went onto pp2013 and how the rate compares to their reduced ones. From the BBC:One of the UK's largest energy suppliers, EDF Energy, has said it is to cut its gas bills by 5% from 7 February.
The move follows a sharp fall in the price of wholesale gas over the winter period due to the mild weather.
EDF increased its gas bills by 15.4% in November in response to rising wholesale gas prices.
It will almost certainly cost you something to leave, then think how you'll feel if prices go up again before the end of pp2013.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. I've just moved from EDF (I've not had a horror story with them, so far, but am too much in credit for my liking - at least they are freephone and open late) to OVO but think I may cancel OVO. Am in the 1st 7 days. The saving from EDF's fixed tariff was only £25 allowing for the £50 cashback for fixing with EDF until 2013.
Then again, the 5% drop makes me wonder if I should wait and see what happens with them and other suppliers? I am just on EDF std tariff now as my fix on online saver 7 ended at the end of 2011.
Any suggestions? I find it all really confusing, thanks0 -
blinking typical, I fixed in November and now prices are dropping! i can't remember this happening for many years...
there is a £50 penalty fee, not too bad if prices drop more0
