All depends which tariff you fixed on: I'm on FS v2 which may still be cheaper than the variable with 5% cut (remember it's gas only).

anyone know when the new 5% cut takes effect and if it applies to dual fuel customers on their standard variable tariff? I wonder if EDF will change their fixed tariffs now as well.
They have £50 cashback on the 2013 fix at present, valid even for existing customers switching from online v7 or std variable.

might be a good time to wait a bit (for once)?

Has anyone who switched to E.ON back in mid-December heard anything yet? EDF have said to me that E.ON haven't applied to take the supplies yet, and we're nearly half-way into January (only got the OS7 extension till the end of this month).

A month is not up yet, and allowing an extra week for Christmas/New Year, I'd doubt if you'll be on supply with Eon before early Feb.

  • Hi,

I have recently finished my contract period with EDF on 31st December (Online version 7 dual fuel) and I am now put on a standard variable tariff by them. I was thinking of switching for a cheaper supplier until I heard today that EDF are cutting their prices in Feb. Should I stay with them or move on to a new supplier? Also, have I entered into any existing contract with them by accepting to be moved to a standard vairable tariff in case I want to switch?

Depends if their 'new' price is cheaper than other deals or not-it's only a 5% cut in the gas price. Use a comp site to check.
There is no ETC on Standard tariff-you can switch at any time.

That potentially should be a worrry. Normally the losing supplier is informed immediately at the conclusion of the "cooling-off" period (an automatic process) at which point you might expect to receive a "sorry" letter from EDF.

Something is not right. I suggest you raise your concerns with E.ON.

Yes but it should also be on your last bill, if you don't have one you can either ring up to get it or just submit a meter reading a new bill is sent out providing you have not had one with in the last month. (You don't get bill until you submit a meter reading)

Don't base a quote on a DD amount as the DD amount could be wrong or it could contain extra money to cover any debt you've built up or a reduction for any credit you've built up.

Ahhh This is what I was looking for in this thread.

I am with EDF and am so confused with their billing. I have been on Online saver 7 since last year but when I look at my statements for both my gas and electricity I have only have paid £800 or so odd pound for 1 year!!!

This is cheap as I would expect my bill to be well over £1k... What is going on here.

When I look at my statements from EDF, confused is not the word!!! as all the bills are in CR? but a steady monthly Direct debit comes out...

All I want EDF to do is give me the actual amount that I need to pay... they seemed to have confused things.

What are my options as I have received a letter to say that they will be moving me over to a 'standard (variable) tariff and looking at it doesnt seem to be a good deal any more.

When I look at price comparison sites should I just look at my usage and put these figures in to give me an accurate summary?

    Thanks
