Standard charges?
There should not be any termination charges if you switch now.
I think CharleneUK is referring to being put onto standard tariff after the 31st December.
But if she rings up and tells them she is changing supplier..
I got told by CS this morning as I did this...
My prices will be held until my switch goes through...
As long as my new supplier contacts them about the change within 15 days of me notifying them.
As I started the switch last Thursday I dint think this will be a problem...0 -
I'm off to EON. Not sure about the CS but will have to gamble it.
uswitch shows it the cheapest for me plus £100 via quidco
Here's a question - shall i just switch via eon or will i have to ring EDF up first to let them know?0 -

Start the switch with your new supplier then a couple of days later tell EDF you are leaving, and you want your prices held as it stated in the letter you got at the end of November.
On the letter you got at the end of November about OS7 coming to an end, it stated that if are changing supplier let them know, and as long as the new supplier contacts them within 15 days of you telling EDF they wil hold your OS7 prices until your transfer is complete.
I rang yesterday to tell them and they confirmed this is correct.0 -

Thanks RP. One final question. I'm in debit as i owe them some money (consumption was rather high these last few months). Any idea how that will be settled?
Will i get billed by EDF or will EON take on the debt?
Thanks0 -
No, the debt must be paid off when you switch, if it's more than about £200 then the switch may be blocked. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Is it worth taking the £75 credit from EDF and take the price protect rate until June2014 or is a massive increase in the current rate?0

There is quite an increase from OS7 to any tariff really...
But based on my last years usage of 10300kWh for gas and 4622kWh for electric...
I got quotes from EDF and these prices are the increases from OS7 for me over the next year should I have chosen to stay...
So around an extra £10 a month on my DD...
Standard Tariff + £139.71
Price Protect 2013 + £139.71 (and £50 credit)
Price Protect 2014 + £177.88 (and £75 credit)
Fix for 2012 + £60.43
Obviously if I do nothing I would get put to standard tariff and it would cost me about £140 a year more unless prices rise.
But I have decided to abandon ship and started the process to move to Scottish Power online fixed price energy April 2013 @ £69 a year cheaper than EDF's standard tariff....
With £80 cashback from energyhelpline...
Hopefully they wont be as bad as EDF0 -

I would have gone with N-Power but I am a bit stubborn, and had a problem with them a few years ago when my meter was changed while they where supplying me...
It got sorted but I hold a grudge
Dont forget to contact EDF as I recomended in post #940
