In the health board there is a sticky thread on depression and they are all very supportive there and friendly. Maybe having a look on there would reassure your friend a bit?
Re landlord increasing rent - have you phoned CAB as I am sure there must be restictions on this."This site is addictive!"

Morning everyone:hello:
Well as you know I visted Chez Bargainrzl's last nite with her new table!
had a lovely cuppa and a chat didnt we? had a tour and I can vouch what a lovely flat it is (v.posh) and those leather sofas looked fab!:D
(but the only glasses she possesses are PINT ones;) :rotfl:umm...only kidding!)
I just hope the table is ok when you opened up the box? I did eventually get home, only delayed cos they decided to close the Limehouse Link tunnel! Im usually in Ikea lately, and as she doesnt live that far from me- I was only too glad to help out.
mushypeas - thats awful - yes you must direct her on to mse where there is loads of support in various forms to help her. hope she doesnt do anything stupid xx also maybe trip to doctors to get something to lift her out of the black pit phase to get courage to tackle things after?
moggins - get the shower! yr only regret missing a bargain, and we all find a way to manage somehow.
off to do some errands for work, then back for a coffee - havent had one yet! (gasp!!)
have a good friday all.0 -
csarina ((HUGS)) agree with the above, maybe call the CAB, that seems like a very big rise.
seroxat-chick - im lucky, i no longer have a MIL, mine was horrid too, glad your DH stuck up for you.
mushypeas - again, i agree with the others, keep letting her know you are there for her, and hopefully she will join us here.
moggins - i would go for the shower - also if its above the bath, it will help with cleaning as well!!!!0 -
MushyPeas - Please continue to help your friend as you have been doing - you're a star! Hopefully, she'll realise that it's worth going on knowing that she has the love and support of at least one person. Having been there, I know that it's the little things that can make all the difference. Good luck - am thinking of you.0

We have heard from the agents handling our property that the landlord wants to put the rent up by £125 a MONTH.............to say I am angry is putting it mildly...............we get nothing done, we had to beg to get a new bathroom window last year..........this is a rise too far I really do not know what we are going to do. I am trying to pay back some loans we took out, QUOTE]
Csarina - I am really sorry to hear this.
We are serial renters. I think that the Landlord can legally ask what he wishes as long as he gives you adequate notice of the increase however whether he gets it is another matter (but really not 100% on this).
We have agreed to rental increases in the past based on the current rate of inflation and the current market situation and I suspect we will have to again when our tenancy needs to be renewed in April. I am guessing because interest rates have increased so have your LL's repayments (£125 is still too much though). He might be asking for £125 as a start point and may be willing to negotiate. Are you paying a fair rent for your property? Can you find out what other similar properties are being rented out at in your area? He would be silly to get you to leave if he is asking too much, because a couple of months of a void in payments would wipe out any benefit he would get from the increase.
If you want more help, just pm me and I can try and help you.
Sounds like plenty of hugs are needed for Mushy Peas and Seroxat chick too.0 -

Happy Anniversary Mr & Mrs Mix
Well, OH eventually got home at 2am - 5hrs later than originally planned (and the original plans included driving through rush hour  ) I'm just glad to have him home though... although he didn't bring me a present backHe'd bought me some local cheese, but like an idiot put it into his hand luggage and had it taken off him for security. Probably a good thing though, as with the delays and everything it'd have stunk by the time he got it home.
Spent the morning doing Moggins style ironing:whistle: then this afternoon I'm off to do a food shop, then OHs parents popping round, then probably out for a meal tonight (BOGOF & Pigsback vouchers, so freeeeee)
No housework really to do as the place is spotless. Funny how little mess has been created in the week he was away :rotfl:
Happy Friday xxxx0 -
Good Morning All,
I have been lurking for a couple of months and was beginning to feel like a peeping tom - nosing into everyones lives!!!!
So hope you don't mind me joining you all
Sorry to hear about MIL problems - my current one is ok but exMIL was/is a piece of work!!! As others have said she will be the one who loses out...my DS1 has sussed his Granny out already at only 11....and doesn't want to see her any more...of course I am blamed for it but I have broad enough shoulders...I can take it!!!
Today I am off sick - have a lousy cold and as I work with vulnerable children - didn't want to risk spreading germs around. DS3 is still at the childminder so really I should be cleaning or something similar:whistle:
Beef Stew in SC for tonights meal but think that could be as OS as it gets!
Hope everyone manages to stay warm today - i'm trying to resist the temptation to put the heating on!!!
