  • What do you use instead of pasta in the no pasta lasagne?

I think your washing may just freeze if you try to peg it out today :p

Hi ITSA, You buy a large leek and carefully cutting the outer leaves off with scissors, turn them into sheets of leek. Blanch them in a pan of salty water and use them in place of lasagne pasta sheets. Use the rest of the leek in the bolognese sauce. It's a hairy bikers recipe, although I've adapted 3 recipes to make my own tomato and cheese sauce too as theirs uses jar sauces.

  • Dinner was a OK but a bit bland, although clean plates all round. Granny, that sounds lovely, my friend has cooked the steak and ale pie out of that book and it was delicious.

Itsa I did peg out (I think I'm a bit obsessed with pegging out :D), it dried a bit....just a little bit and now its on the clothes airers.:(

Had to pay DS2 football subs today, I've put DS2s bus money and OHs 5-a-side money, DS3s milk money out ready for tomorrow, that leaves £4 in my purse.

Didn't manage to get all the housework done today, living room looks like a childrens nursery.....again!! Will sort that out tomorrow when I come in from work. Going to ignore the toys and have a chill out on the sofa.

Fingers crossed it doesn't snow tonight.

  • OH had his b/card (originally V1rg1n) statement today, balance is £1730.90 paying off £11.82 per month.

I need to get all these statements together that we've been having and update the figures on our DMP on the Step Change/CCCS website, as the figures we owe aren't quite upto date. Hope it's not dramatically wrong. :(

OHs football cancelled so he's got £2 in his pocket :).

    Today was NSD 8. :)

  • Another NSD number 9 :)

Tomorrow/Thursday I need to get birthday presents x 2 (have M&S voucher to use for these), birthday cards, make-up wipes (found some 2pkts for £1 and they do the trick), milk, bread, potatoes and some bits for lunch boxes.

DS3s swimming lessons were due to be paid this week, but they had to cancel last week as there was a problem at the pool, so that has put payment day back a week.

House is still a mess, still haven't sorted all DS3s toys in the living room, clothes on airers need folding, need to vac dining room and hall, sweep kitchen floor and general tidy up in kitchen (paperwork/post needs sorting)..........so going to get a few jobs done at least. xx

  • Another busy night, I went to M&S straight from work to get b'day presents (used gift card) then met up with OH to go to a meeting at the school. After meeting got £10 petrol, don't know why I just don't put £30 in once a week. Then OH spent his £2 on a portion of chips for him and the kids to share for supper.

It got me thinking whilst walking round M&S that I can't wait for the day when we are in a financial position to be able to spend these gift cards on myself, my family or our home. Not been selfish or anything like that just can't wait for that day, the debt free day :)

Putting the debt free day to one side OH has been asked to go on a 'stag weekend', £170, plus he really could do with a new bike (approx cost £250ish), the bike is a need not a want as he can't get to work without it, the weekend away is a luxury.

He mentioned it last night and I really wanted to say that if he took an active interest in the money side of things (he is money saving in a roundabout way but just doesn't help with the budget/spending diary) then he could 'see' if we could afford both (which we can't). I didn't really say anything just that we'd have to see how things went.:(

Still on 9 NSDs, bank balance £7.73:eek:, tomorrow will pay childminder (must start paying in full at the start of the month) and get food bits we need.

Do either of your workplaces do the bike to work scheme? That's how I got my bike - you get the bike less the tax/ni you would have paid, and then the money is usually deducted from your pay over 12 months/52 weeks. So a £250 bike would cost approx £175 which would be £3.37 a week.
  • Thanks Workie Ticket, OH is going to ask about the scheme at work as they do do it, a guy he works with did get a bike through the scheme but he was paying £60 per month:eek:. Your calculations are certainly more favourable. They are going to change the lottery where he works (now that it has gone up!!) to just £1 per person so thats saving £2 per week.:)

Have been shopping tonight A1di and sburys £73 intotal, £30 petrol, £38 dog food, £25 childminder, bumper spend day.:o

Not looking forward to snow tomorrow, fingers crossed nothing too bad. xx
